1. What are we doing to protect people the system was designed to harm?

2. What are we willing to risk or give up so that others can be free?

3. How are we helping to build power — not just awareness — in our community?

4. How do we fight for liberation without becoming what we’re trying to dismantle? taken in Mama Earth by @regenerativecollective

Jack D. Forbes (1934–2011) was an Indigenous writer, historian, and activist, descendant of the Powhatan-Renapé and Lenape peoples. He was born in Long Beach and raised in El Monte, California, in the San Gabriel Valley.

In his book, “Columbus and Other Cannibals”, Forbes described Wetiko — a “mind virus” of greed and conquest. A sickness that drives people to take and consume endlessly, even if it destroys others.

Wetiko is not just history — it is alive today.

Forbes warned that Wetiko is the spirit of empire — and until we face it, it will keep devouring humanity.

Do you see Wetiko in what is happening today?

Call what’s going on here on Turtle Island and all over mama earth what it is! These systems weren’t not built by us nor our relatives, majority from the global south - they are foreign laws built with the purpose of our displacement. Continue to build, grow, and dream big with your loved ones of the thriving futures you deserve. Continue to hold each other’s struggle with compassion and fearlessness 💕🙏🏽🪶

(Featuring clips from the documentary WORLD WHITE HATE by Dirk Laabs. Available on YouTube — a documentary that analyzes the mechanisms of radicalization and discusses possible counter-strategies for democratic societies. The central question remains: “How can we win the digital and real battle against increasing violence from the right?”). taken in Mama Earth by @regenerativecollective

Step into a time-honoured Chinese nature tradition this Sunday at Peck Road Water Conservation Park in collaboration with @regenerativecollective

Despite the vast ocean separating Chinese American communities from our old home (老家), we can still find cousins of Chinese native plants in California! Some of which live in the very park we'll be visiting!

Come learn about native plants and stay for the Chóng Yáng cake prepared by @bo.baked, chrysanthemum tea, and a free sachet making activity using tea bags. Traditional Chinese hebao sachet available for $5.

To RSVP please text 626-515-4833.

See you at the park! taken in Peck Road Water Conservation Park by @regenerativecollective

How do the words and weapons used by the oppressor violently erase lives and narratives through the propaganda and war machine? What is the impact of silence? How could we wield the language of poetry and truth, the tools of our ancestors that echo through millennia, to connect and resist?

Join us on Sunday, October 11 from 2 to 4 pm at People’s Cafe Memories of El Monte to write and build a community of poets and writers against war and genocide.

This poetry workshop, facilitated by Teresa Mei Chuc, poet, publisher, educator and former Altadena Poet Laureate, is a fundraiser for the Veterans for Peace & About Face delegation on a Peace Speaking Tour to Japan and Okinawa.

Suggested donation — $25 but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Racism is everywhere. If you don’t call it out when you see or hear it, you are just as complicit as the person acting or speaking that way. by @regenerativecollective

Our history is the future 🩷🫶 here’s a reading list compiled by Book Club + some of our not-so-hot takes. Number one: start listening to Indigenous peoples, the oldest caretakers of this land. Listen to the names of the waterways, the mountains, that truly tell us stories that are older than we are. Slow down. Breathe. Learn. Ask questions. Help each other. We are still here 🫂

“As Indigenous peoples-they want to destroy us; they want to wipe us out, because we, as Indigenous peoples, defend our land, our home— because it is our life, nature, Mother Earth” -Zapatista Comrade Marely at the War Against Humanity Seedbed held in CIDECI- San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico.
