Why do relationships feel so hard sometimes, even when you’re trying your best? 🤍

I joined @ginnypriem, speaker, coach, and #1 bestselling author, on her podcast where we discussed attachment styles.

We explored how attachment shows up in your relationships, patterns, and sense of safety, along with supportive shifts to help you move toward more secure connection.

Do you ever feel like your mind won’t slow down…
replaying conversations, overthinking interactions, or feeling tense even when nothing seems “wrong”?

Maybe you notice the same patterns showing up in your relationships. You want connection, but conflict, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm can make it hard to feel steady or secure.

For many people, these experiences are connected to attachment wounds and a nervous system that has been carrying stress or trauma for a long time.

When your system has learned to stay on guard, it can feel exhausting trying to think your way out of it.

This is the work I do at Free Flow Healing.

I help clients gently understand the patterns behind anxiety, attachment trauma, and relational struggles while supporting the nervous system in finding greater safety and regulation.

My approach integrates
• trauma-informed therapy
• attachment-focused work
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
• mindfulness and somatic therapy
• Transforming Touch, a gentle body-based therapy that helps release stored stress and support nervous system healing

I also bring Eastern philosophies together with Western therapeutic approaches, creating a space that supports healing for both the mind and body.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in the same relational patterns, or simply tired of carrying so much stress in your body, therapy can help.

You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Opening my own private practice has been one of the most meaningful and challenging things I’ve ever done.

What started as an empty room slowly became a space that reflects everything I hoped it would be: calm, welcoming, and built with intention.

There were moments of excitement, moments of doubt, and plenty of moments where I wondered if I was ready. But this journey reminded me that courage isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about continuing to move forward even when the path feels uncertain.

Looking around this office now, I don’t just see furniture and décor. I see every risk, every late night, every lesson, and every small step that led me here.

Dreams rarely happen all at once. They come together one decision, one act of faith, and one day at a time.

Here’s a look at the journey from an empty room to the home of Free Flow Healing. 🤍 by @regulatedwithanna

Attachment trauma doesn’t always look like trauma.

Sometimes it looks like needing control to feel safe. Staying constantly busy so you don’t have to slow down. Pulling away when relationships get too close. Feeling emotions intensely or noticing that your body is always carrying tension.

These patterns may seem unrelated, but they can be ways your nervous system learned to protect you, create predictability, or maintain connection when safety wasn’t always consistent.

Healing isn’t about blaming your past or getting rid of these responses. It’s about understanding where they came from and helping your nervous system learn that it has more choices now. 🤍

Swipe through for 5 subtle ways attachment trauma can show up in adulthood.

Which one surprised you most? Instagram carousel from Free Flow Healing about 5 subtle signs of attachment trauma in adulthood. The slides discuss physical tension and stress, difficulty regulating emotions, pushing others away despite wanting connection, staying busy or distracted to avoid difficult feelings, and using control to create a sense of safety. The carousel explains that these patterns may develop as protective nervous system responses and that healing can involve building safety, awareness, connection, and new ways of responding. by @regulatedwithanna

Attachment trauma doesn’t always come from one big, obvious event.

Sometimes, it develops through repeated experiences of feeling unsafe, unseen, unsupported, or uncertain in the relationships that were supposed to provide safety.

When those experiences happen early in life, the nervous system adapts. Those adaptations can continue into adulthood, showing up in the way we experience trust, connection, conflict, boundaries, and even our relationship with ourselves.

The good news? Our early experiences can shape us, but they don’t have to define us. With awareness, safe relationships, and nervous system support, new patterns can develop. 🤍 Free Flow Healing graphic defining attachment trauma. Text reads: “Attachment trauma occurs when a child’s sense of safety, trust, and connection with a caregiver is disrupted, shaping how they experience relationships and safety later in life.” The design features soft lavender and muted teal watercolor shapes on a cream background with the Free Flow Healing logo in the upper left corner. taken in Hopkins, Minnesota by @regulatedwithanna

Monday morning regulation looks a little different around here. 🧘‍♀️🐈

A little yoga, a little stretching, and of course, my very involved assistant, Shiloh.

Starting the week by slowing down, checking in with my body, and making space before jumping into everything the week holds. 🤍

Sometimes self-care really can be this simple. taken in Hopkins, Minnesota by @regulatedwithanna

Therapy doesn’t always look the way people expect.

Sometimes it’s sitting across from someone in an office. Sometimes it’s connecting online from the comfort of home. Sometimes it’s learning something new about yourself, putting pen to paper, noticing your breath, or creating space to slow down.

Healing can be supported through many different practices, including:
• In person therapy
• Online therapy
• Psychoeducation
• Journaling
• Mindfulness and meditation
• Aromatherapy
• Sound healing
• Body based practices
• Time in nature
• Creative expression

There isn’t one “right” path. What matters is finding approaches that help you feel more connected to yourself, your body, and your life.

The goal isn’t to do everything. It’s to discover what allows you to feel grounded, present, and supported.

What practices have made the biggest difference in your life? I’d love to hear them below. by @regulatedwithanna

Day 21 of my 30-Day Meditation Challenge 🤍

Three weeks of showing up.

This week’s intention comes from the Yamas and Niyamas and focuses on Satya, or truthfulness.

When I first think of truthfulness, I think about being honest with others. But this week, I’ve been reflecting on what it means to be honest with myself.

Satya invites us to notice what is true in the present moment without judgment, avoidance, or pretending things are different than they are.

It asks:
✨ What am I feeling right now?
✨ What do I need?
✨ What am I avoiding?
✨ What is my body trying to tell me?

Through meditation, I’ve noticed that truth often reveals itself in the quiet moments. Not the truth of who I think I should be, but the truth of who I am right now.

Some days that truth is gratitude.
Some days it’s exhaustion.
Some days it’s joy.
Some days it’s uncertainty.

The practice is not to change those experiences, but to meet them with awareness and honesty.

As I reach Day 21, I’m feeling grateful for this reminder that mindfulness isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about becoming more present with what is already here.

What would it look like to practice a little more truthfulness with yourself this week? 🤍 by @regulatedwithanna

Day 18 of exploring the Yamas and Niyamas ✨

This weeks reflection is on Ahimsa, the practice of non-violence.

Most of us think of non-violence as not causing harm to others, but yoga invites us to look deeper. How often do we direct violence toward ourselves through self-criticism, perfectionism, unrealistic expectations, or the way we speak to ourselves when we make mistakes?

Ahimsa is choosing compassion over judgment. It’s softening when your instinct is to push harder. It’s honoring your limits, speaking kindly to yourself, and extending that same gentleness to others.

What would change if you approached yourself with the same understanding you offer the people you love?

Today’s reminder: Non-violence begins within. 🤍 by @regulatedwithanna

Fourteen days ago, I started a daily meditation challenge.

I thought the biggest change would be feeling calmer.

What surprised me most was how much more aware I became.

More aware of stress before it built up.
More aware of when I needed a pause.
More aware of what was happening in my body instead of pushing through it.

Research suggests mindfulness can support emotional regulation, attention, stress reduction, and self-compassion. While two weeks isn’t enough time to transform everything, I’ve noticed small shifts that feel meaningful.

One of the biggest reminders from this challenge has been that consistency matters more than perfection. A few minutes each day can add up in ways we don’t always notice right away.

Day 15 starts today.

Have you ever tried a meditation practice? What was your experience? by @regulatedwithanna

Fourteen days ago, I decided to commit to a daily meditation practice.

Not because I thought it would change my life overnight. In fact, consistency with meditation is something I’ve struggled with over the years.

My goal was simple: show up every day.

Two weeks in, I’ve noticed some subtle but meaningful shifts. I feel more grounded, I’m catching stress earlier, and I’m spending less time running on autopilot.

What’s been especially interesting is that many of the changes I’ve noticed align with what research has found about mindfulness practices. Studies suggest meditation may help reduce perceived stress, improve emotional regulation, increase self-awareness, strengthen attention, and cultivate greater self-compassion.

The biggest lesson so far?

Consistency matters more than perfection.

Not every meditation session felt deep or transformative. Some days my mind wandered. Some days I felt restless. But showing up anyway has been where the growth happened.

As a therapist, this challenge has been a good reminder that meaningful change often comes from small, consistent actions repeated over time rather than dramatic breakthroughs.

Two weeks down. Sixteen days to go.

Have you ever tried a daily meditation practice? What did you notice?
