My first Chelsea Curto and will not be my last!

This was a really fun, high energy romance. If you grew up watching Twister and feel indifferent about Twisters aside from how hot Glen Powell is, you need to read this book. It’s not often that I am absolutely feral over a MMC, but Sebastian takes the cake.

I loved the romance of this book, as it was extra swoon worthy. There is decent character development and it felt like it was trying to set up more storyline for additional books that will allow us to return to this little Floridian universe. Quincy got on my nerves a little bit but I think that’s primarily because she and I just have vastly different personalities. Sebastian can do no wrong. I am shaving off a star because the ending felt a little dragged out.

Top book of May 2026, hands down.

Mini Review:
Yesteryear is different take on the influencer world with a very difficult FMC and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever read before. The messaging runs DEEP. Natalie is awful, but there were so many times her inner monologue spoke to me through satire, particularly on the subject of marriage and motherhood, and made me question my entire existence.

Offering a massive trigger warning for anyone that is sensitive to religious or political satire (aka I ate it up).

I’m telling all my friends to read this.

AND SHE’S OFF!!! This cutie pie book (If It Makes You Happy) is officially at the most dreadful place in the world (US Post Office) and on it’s way to the lovely @meganreadslol, and then @aneverendingbookstack, for a sisterhood of the traveling book experience.

Do you prefer clean pages or do you like to annotate?

I am 50/50, some books I want to binge and some books I need to talk to and write out thoughts on paper. If It Makes You Happy was 100% an annotation worthy book.

PS: This book has a top tier 90s playlist and music references. Really locked in the late 90s vibe. Cannot WAIT for @julieoliviaauthor’s new book and the opportunity to return to Copper Run. I feel spoiled having just finished this right before her announcement EEEK! by @rekroceisusreads

I had fun with this one, and am glad I did the audio because I have been too scatter brained lately to eyeball read this series in time for the release of ACOTAR 6 and I want to feel included in the chaos when that one comes out. by @rekroceisusreads

It’s been a WHILE since I made a What I read last week post, and I’ve missed it.

I am at the halfway point of the Crescent City series, and have binged this much in a two week period, starting to feel the overload and might need a little break before I start CC3.

How incredible was the backdrop for @aneverendingbookstack’s baby shower!? It was handmade.

Focus for the week ahead:

- Finish If It Makes You Happy and drop it in the mail for @meganreadslol - we’re buddy reading this “sisterhood of the traveling book style”
- Finish House of Breath and Sky
- Start one of my planned ARC reads for the month
- Start a Libby audiobook that I am hoarding by @rekroceisusreads

Okay so, I knew I had a lot of hand cream and lippies squirreled away, but I didn’t realize it was this bad lol

- Book Witch Umbrella (@meg_shaffer!)
- Work phone, extra USB C charging cord, wire headphones because I can not be trusted with anything else
- Wallet, sunnies, mini claw clip (curtain bangs IYKYK), car keys
- Hand cream(s), hand sanitizer (you literally can never have enough, bandaids, pill case, and measuring tape for thrifting
- Pencil pouch, pens, highlighters, tabbies, and a ruler
- Kindle, clicker + remote, my current read, and magnetic bookmark

We live and we learn, right? Well, this year I learned not to put too much fantasy on my planned TBR because it takes a lot more mental energy out of me than other genres do.

Instead of a 27 in 2027 goal, I’ll be challenging myself to read 27 books from my physical TBR going into the year. I also want to do another 12 Recommendations in 12 months because I had a lot of fun with that one. I’m not sure if I’ll carry over the ones I didn’t get to this year and add more on top, or start fresh? TBD.

For my 10 Before the End, I’ve intentionally selected unread books from both challenges, trying to be conscious of mixed genres and prioritizing books I already own (“📚”). I snagged Leviathan Wakes on an Audible sale but have the physical copy from my attempt to start it during first trimester of my pregnancy in 2022 (major fail). Binding 13 and Inheritance Games have been rotting on my Kindle for almost a year. Legendborn was on last year’s 10 Before the End so I really need to get my sh*t together with that one.

Overwhelmed by Kindle Unlimited? Or want to find some new-to-you indie authors? I’ve got you covered!

I ate up @mandy.bex’s new book, Gold Dust Woman, in about a 36 hour period, during a busy work week no less. The yearning and atmosphere in this book is top tier. My only complaint is that it was not longer because I didn’t want it to end. I cant wait to return to this universe!

@zarajadeastrid is one of my favorite people on this planet, I am so grateful to have been brought together through her independent publishing house, @olivepresspublishing. She is so incredibly talented and knowledgeable about the writing and publishing process, and has taught me so much in the short amount of time that we’ve known each other. This duology got me out of my comfort zone and I cannot wait to see what she does next!

@tracyavery.books is a doll and I had so much fun with her book, When in Dublin. Tracy also came to my company’s book club in August and I was excited for my colleagues to read her work alongside me. I also am waiting very impatiently for her next project to be released because it sounds like so much fun.

I love me a good cowboy romance, and @authorbaileyjohnson does not disappoint. I fell in love with Brooks, Pepper, and sweet Tessa, reading her newest book and am so looking forward to returning to Kane Ridge Ranch.

The last two authors technically fall into the trad publishing world but I still loved them and wanted to feature them for their impeccable audio components that KU offered with a standard membership.

Devney is blowing up for her Shield of Sparrows series, and after reading the first installment back in January I wanted to check out her back catalogue. Lucky me when I discovered her newly released Bluebird Gold with an audio tie in, I ate it up in less than 24 hours while going to town over a puzzle. All I can say is, Sheriff Cosi Raynes.

Lastly, my IRL book bestie discovered the Eye of the Goddess Trilogy by Sariah Wilson a couple of years ago and we had so much fun doing unofficial buddy reads of these books. They are a bit long, but very well done and you have the option to do audio!
