Happiest of birthdays to my fabulous niece, Abigail who is somehow 3 years old today! She’s such a funny, sassy, and sweet girl who loves playing with and hanging with and running around with her brothers! She’s getting so big and her little feisty personality is really starting to shine! I love that I can still steal her for snuggles and selfies! I can’t wait to see what 3 has in store for you, I hope it’s an incredible year! I love you Abby girl! by @rekuva10

ARC Review for Blood of Truth and Traitors by @ariaashbrookauthor (I was so grateful for the advanced copy!)

4.75 stars!!!! ⭐️

This series just keep getting better & more addictive with each book. These characters are growing & evolving & changing & becoming family, found family amongst their group, amongst the Issen, & in our (the reader’s) hearts. I loved the development of the characters here, everyone felt so much more real because they were all experiencing joys & struggles & having to face hard truths & learn about themselves. Everyone went on a journey of self discovery in this one, obviously most notably with Rose & how her heritage is going to inform her life going forward. She handles it about as well as one could expect in such a crazy world with 20 million new revelations & pressures & expectations put on her. She really comes into her own as she accepts herself & her powers & becomes even more of a badass. But I was most intrigued & touched by Kyor’s journey, his self-reflection & willingness to look at the full picture & try to find the truth staring back at him (in many ways) was really beautiful & heartbreaking. Rose & Kyor’s relationship gets so much stronger in this book, the trust that was lost & tested in book 2 is slowly rebuilt & strengthened & re-tested & bolstered here & I loved that they work through their issues instead of doing the typical romance book trope of ignoring the problems or letting it break them up. I hope we continue to see more of that going forward because they are my favorites & they’re clearly endgame & they will live happily ever after… right? Right! Also don’t go into this expecting everything to be easy & go well for these guys. There is some MAJOR emotional devastation. Like things were going TOO well & I KNEW something was gonna go down & had thought I was prepared but I was not. So bring some tissues. After the cliffhanger shocker ending of the 2nd book I didn’t think that it could be topped but I should have known better. Read this banger of a book, it’s so good, a series where each book gets stronger is so rare so you cannot pass this opportunity up! by @rekuva10

I participated in @demiwinterswrites’ Summer Reading Challenge and had a blast! #SummerReadingChallenge

Week 1
7/5-7/9: Our Vicious Oaths by N. E. Davenport
This was an alternate book I chose because I had already read the chosen book, Demi’s The Road of Bones and her entire Ashen Series

This was the original Week 1 selection (and other alternate titles in the series) but I had just read all of Demi Winters’ The Ashen Series back in March!

Week 2
7/12-7/16: Tortured Souls by Melissa K. Roehrich

Week 3
7/19-7/22: This Vicious Dream by Stacia Stark
This was another alternate title because I had just read the selected book, We Who Will Die, also by Stacia Stark, back in January

This was the original selection for week 3, but I had already read We Who Will Die back in January

Week 4
7/24-7/31: The Ever King by L. J. Andrews
I also then immediately read the next 2 available in this series, The Ever Queen and The Mist Thief

Week 5
8/2-8/3: Smoke and Scar by Gretchen Powell Fox
I also then immediately read the next one in the series, Splintered Kingdom. (And just yesterday got my hands on and began an advanced copy of the final book in the trilogy, Shadow and Son)

Week 6
8/7-8/12: Kissed by the Gods by Caty Rogan
I also then immediately read read the prequel novella Unwritten by the Gods

ARC Review for Elemental Becoming by @bobbiewirkmaa_author (I was so grateful for the advanced copy!)

4.5 stars!!! ⭐️

“Even sparks can set the world alight.”

Review: Book 2 starts right where book 1 finished. Already reeling from her Spiritborn “awakening” Amara is thrust into the politics and expectations of that title and feeling the weight of all the hope, pressure, doubts, and vulnerabilities that brings forth. We got a lot of scenes with their found family and the merging of Thanes friends and Amara’s friends/family. This made for both hilarious and meaningful scenes and was a great way to expand their world. Seeing their personal relationships up close helped to feel connected to the stakes of the impending war. Amara and Thane’s relationship grows stronger too. The evolution of their bond becomes a very important part of the story and I assume it will continue to be paramount going forward - and brings some of the funniest and enjoyable scenes in the book. We also get more of Amara’s honing of her powers and how that pays off especially in battle (hint: it’s badass). And yes, we get a lot more dragons in this book! Calryx is so sassy and supportive and so fun. We really sit with Amara in her life in this one and feel her journey and growth, both her triumphs and struggles, her insecurities and her confidence. We got some breadcrumbs of what is coming so I can’t wait to see how those things pan out and what they mean going forward for our characters in the rest of the Echoes of Lumoria series! by @rekuva10

Happiest Birthday to this big guy who is 5 years old today! Josh is getting so big now. You're still a feisty mischevious little man trying to keep up with your big brothers but also give some of the sweetest hugs and are a funny and smart kid. You did so well in school this year and I can't believe you're off to Kindergarten next year! I love that Aunt Rachel can still get you to do selfies as long as we can do a goofy one too so I'll make silly faces with you anytime! I hope you have a great birthday and I can’t wait to see what 5 brings you! Love you so much Josh, Happy Birthday! by @rekuva10
