Still recovering from a whirlwind of a day, but we wanted to take a second to sincerely thank each and every person who came through today to show us love! We knew the inventory wouldn't last all weekend...turns out it didn't even last through today. Every single new thing we made, along with the used stuff we had, was sold in about two hours.

We're saddened to have to say that there is indeed nothing left to grab, unless you're still looking for raw materials or one of the sewing machines. And having to tell people who had been patiently waiting in line to get in that everything was gone already wasn't our favorite moment either. We really do wish we had enough to get everybody that one last bag, but we did the best we could! Thanks to everybody for being understanding and letting us know we're appreciated nonetheless.

So....as far as tomorrow goes...we still plan to be here from 12-6. If you need material or hardware or thread, come through. If you just want to say hey and hang out, come through. We've got some more food and more beer for you. Go to the swap at @keystone.bike at 10am first!

A more official and complete thank you post will be coming soon but for now, please know we love and appreciate all of you and thank you so much for an amazing send-off! Hope to see you out on the streets, roads, and trails soon ❤️

(long post so buckle up)

2023 marks our 25th year in business. We've accomplished more than we ever could have dreamed of back when we started making a few personal bags in the kitchen of a shared apartment. We've sold bags all around the globe, and have had partners helping with the brand in Japan, Germany, and Denmark. We've traveled far and wide to messenger events big and small, and have sponsored hundreds and hundreds of events and fundraisers along the way. We've helped throw CMWC 's and NACCC's, and we threw our own huge yearly event for over ten years. We've gotten our bags into huge Hollywood movies and we've had some of our biggest role models just stop by the shop and order stuff for themselves and their friends. We've had the privilege of meeting people and learning about their lives and their needs and making things for them that affect them in personal ways beyond simple utilitarian use. Most of all, we've done everything in our power to make our products better and better each and every year. We've run R.E.Load exactly the way we wanted to (which is part of the reason we're not rich now 🤣). Carving our own path has made us happy and proud about our legacy in Philadelphia and beyond.

While we love what we do and the community that we do it for, we've realized over the past few years that there are still other challenges and pursuits that we'd like to take on. Twenty-five years is quite a long time to do one thing! So, we're announcing here that 2023 will be R.E.Load's last year.

We're announcing this now so we can give everyone out there a chance to get their orders in with a good amount of time left! For all of you who have "always wanted to get a bag from us", this is your chance. And for those who want to add to the collection, let's do it! To everybody out there that has supported us in any way over the past quarter century, you have our heartfelt love and appreciation. ♥️♥️♥️ by @reloadbags

I know it's 2025 and most of you out there don't even know what Flickr is, but back in the day it was a good way to save a ton of photos for online viewing. I actually kept our account active through all these years, but I'm going to be taking it down in the next few weeks. There's over a thousand photos in there dating back around 15 years, so if you'd like to take a trip down memory lane with some of the history of R.E.Load, go check it out while you still can! I'll put a link for it in our stories, but you can also get to it by scrolling to the bottom of our homepage and clicking on social media links. by @reloadbags

There's so many amazing gravel events in PA! It's tough for me to make it to many of them these days with work and family obligations, but luckily @brandywinevalleyroubaix always takes place on a Sunday and is only an hour away. You can do this ride and be back in Philly by the afternoon! And it's only $40, making it just about the most affordable organized event in the area. Definitely the most affordable featuring boxes of cider donuts on top of the penultimate climb 🍩

I'm hoping to make it out to Starucca Crossing this year as well, because @lulackawyco @surlyrider are amazing and I haven't made it to Starucca yet. Both of these rides are coming up soon, so go register if you haven't yet already! by @reloadbags

Since we closed the doors at R.E.Load, the number one question I've been asked - other than "Do you have anything left at all, and can you still fix my bag?" - is "What are you going to do next?". I'm happy to announce that I've been working for BikeCo, helping to set up their beautiful new @breezerbikes Philadelphia showroom! It's a bit of a full-circle moment for me, as I started out in the industry back in the early 90s working for Toga Bikes in NYC and Bike Line here in Philly, before starting up R.E.Load in 1998. On top of that, one of my best friends at Drexel had a Breezer Lightning, which I was very jealous of as we rode through Belmont and the Wiss together. Breezer has seriously expanded their lineup since then, and now makes all-road, gravel, and several types of city bikes to go along with their mountain bikes. For several years they have been part of the BikeCo family - along with Fuji, SE, and Tuesday - headquartered right here in Philadelphia, only about a dozen blocks from where I spent over 20 years running R.E.Load.

In my former career I was dedicated not only to creating the best products I could, but also to supporting the cycling community in Philly to the best of my ability. I was proud to stand behind the bags and accessories we made in our shop in Northern Liberties. As I transition to working with Breezer, I do so with the same convictions: To provide the best service possible, and to stand behind the products we design and sell. Our goal is to get you set up with the right bike for your needs, and to keep that bike running as well as possible for years to come. We want to listen to and support our community in the effort to get more people out on bikes, enjoying the outdoors.

With these values in mind, our new showroom will be dedicated to the sales and support of Breezer bikes, while featuring some small bits of curated accessories to help out during your rides, wherever they may take you. We're purposely starting small so that we can absorb your input and begin to build on it organically. After a soft opening in late May to work out some of the kinks, I'm looking forward to an official opening party in June! Stay tuned.. by @reloadbags

Yesterday our beloved Singer 20u went off to a new home to begin the next chapter in its life. While I was getting it ready to be picked up, I cleaned out the area it sat in in the lower floor of the studio. That included the huge Rubbermaid bin where we would leave all of the printouts we used to prep flaps for applique work. These would be put on a light table, where we would trace out the various shapes on different colors of cordura before ultimately cutting everything out, arranging and gluing it all to the flap, and finally, stitching it on using the zig zag setting on the Singer.

Making bags isn't rocket science, and although it does require a good amount of training and an eye for details, the truly amazing growth we experienced as stitchers here at R.E.Load was always in the area of applique graphics. The learning curve was steep yet incredibly rewarding, and each of us developed our own approach and style of work. The planning and problem solving mindset we had to bring into things when we began offering custom graphics helped to guide us through several phases and projects within the company in the years that followed.

I'm gonna really miss that machine 😢. Here's some of the highlights from what I went through yesterday. by @reloadbags

A pretty large number of people told us they were trying to come to the closing weekend but missed it, or just got in here too late, but really wanted to grab an OG patch for old times sake. So we decided to do one last extra run of them. They're up on the site now in the "accessories" section. Shipping is included (US only), so just add them to your cart and choose "pickup in Philly", and we'll ship them to your address. In a weird twist, the embroidery shop we've always used to make these mistakenly ran our old April Fools Ride patches from 2017 before realizing they were the wrong patches, so every order of OG patches is gonna get a free April Fools Ride patches as well 🤷🏾‍♂️.

If you want patches and you're outside the US, shoot us an email and we'll hook it up!

Thanks all and happy Halloween 🎃 by @reloadbags

An important note regarding this weekend's closing festivities: in the interest of making sure that the max amount of people who show up to the shop actually get a chance to leave with a bag, we are going to be limiting purchases of full-size bags to one per person.

While we've done our best to make as much stuff as possible in the time frame we've had leading up to the weekend, the simple fact remains that we're a tiny two-person operation, and we were never going to be able to make enough stuff to satisfy the demand. The thought of somebody showing up and not being able to grab a bag because a few other people each bought a bunch makes us sad, so this seems like the most reasonable way to go. Just trying to spread the Philly love as much as possible, one last time ❤️ by @reloadbags

Meant to post this last week but time flies when you're trying to clear out 25 years of stuff. Along with a Consew RB-5 walking foot machine, we are also selling this Singer 20u industrial machine*. This is the JAPANESE (better and rarer) model, purchased from our beloved friends at Keystone Sewing around 2003. Although this machine is capable in straight-stitch mode, we kept it almost exclusively in zig-zag mode. Every single amazing graphic bag you've seen come out of our studio was done on one of these (we had two for most of the 2010s). I'm not sure what better endorsement we can give a machine.

This comes with its table and clutch motor, as well as a TON of bobbins and thread in all sorts of colors. Asking $700

* THIS MACHINE IS NOT FOR SALE UNTIL THIS WEEKEND. If you are interested, come through this weekend, 12-6pm, and you can check it out. If it doesn't sell this weekend we will update posts with opportunities to purchase at a later date. We will absolutely not ship this, local pickup only! by @reloadbags

A few times over the years, we've decided we needed something, made prototypes, and even stitched up production ready versions, just to ultimately use the things for ourselves and never release them to the public. Case in point: these fork bags we did up maybe five or six years ago that are made to fit in an anything cage, secured by Voile straps. We've also obviously made a bunch of things for ourselves that we've used for a little bit and then cast aside while we move on to something else. For instance, this colorful Braaap Pack and this circa 2006ish messenger bag. All of this stuff and more will be available for pennies on the dollar at our Closing Weekend!

If you're looking for new goods, we will have a lot of that as well. Bags both big and small, and most of the styles of accessories we've made over the years will all be available for sale at the shop.

Saturday and Sunday, September 21st and 22nd.
