What A fun Block Party mural dedication at Mural City Cellars @muralcitycellars @muralarts. Thank you @klegazpi for all your help planning this with project manager @rjrushmore and murals art event crew. I was so surprised to see everyone at this and the speakers! So Honored @jane.golden spoke, Katie Legazpi, RJ Rushmore, and Emily Mello spoke and all the kind words. My favorite part was also when Mister Softies truck showed up with free ice cream. It was a true neighborhood party 🎉

It was a perfect day out and about @philadelphiacyclingclassic with friends from all over the city and my history of riding. It was great to see us all a little older now with families of all ages and friendships that stretch back decades. It was so rad to see my baby that was being hatched back when the race took some time off @pamtbrace providing a place for folks to ride and learn about what we do. All of it was great. I’m still floating on such a great experience.

The Philadelphia Cycling Classic has finally come home, and boy oh boy was it fun!
😻
The first time I saw this was back in 2004, and an ex boyfriend's dad took pity on me and took he and I to see the pros start off. Peak Lance Armstrong fever meant that only a certain group for people were seen as "cyclists", and I was not a part of it.
😻
22 years later, I finally did my very first race in the amateur time trial. While I am not happy about the results (I know, I KNOW), at the very least, I have numbers to work with, and I can still work to get even better and that it all that really matters here.
😻
Speaking of 22 years, I am so so grateful to the friends old and new alike that I saw this weekend (and some of them had to stare at me in the face before I recognized them...a whole ass day later). And a day later, my heart is so full, my voice is cracking like that snotty (roadie) exbf. Lastly, cycling has grown so much, and I am so proud and in awe to see it keep growing.

Come on home, Philly cycling. The kids miss you so so much.

I’ve had this messenger bag for about 13 years. It’s beat to shit made it through a house fire years ago with 3K lifeboat in it, help me get me to my next move. It’s carried everything from my DJ gear Music stuff set list for my band hard drives full of songs ever to take to sessions to record with friends. Laptop full of web dev code.. It’s got a bunch of scars on it. Burn marks frayed strap smells a little funky too. what’s in your bag?

📸 Throwback to Seattle, 2006!

Ellie was making bags for @reloadbags (RIP 🤍), the custom messenger bag company she co-founded in Philly back in 1998. This R.E. Load shop in Capitol Hill had in-house production, so stitchers manufactured bags right there on site.

Ellie's roots in the industrial sewing industry have deeply informed what we do at Klum House today. We love to bridge the gap between home hobby sewing and small batch production, teaching makers that they can in fact make badass, professional-quality bags at home!

It's always fun to look back and reflect on all of the experiences that have added up to where we are today.

What experiences have set you on your maker path?
