It should be known at this stage that I have a somewhat ambiguous relationship with the Volkswagen Scirocco, as it was a direct competitor to the Renault Fuego back in the early eighties. I still prefer the pleasant lines of the Fuego by a whole lot to the Golf Coupé, but over time things conciliated a bit between the two cars, so that sometimes I even snap a nice Scirocco if I see one. The interesting fun fact with these is that the GTI package (as seen here in the picture) appeared first on the Scirocco before it was carried over to the legendary Golf!

Hello Clan, how was your weekend?

On a very quiet day today I got to work on a few small car-related projects that had been sitting around for quite a while. In this process I had some Renault 5 parts going trough my hands today, so this fact and @jobjoris's #frenchfriday contribution inspired me to post a fantastic Renault 5 Turbo for you today!

And you? What have you been up to this weekend?

A very happy #frenchfriday to all of you - with a lovely Swiss autumnal Postcard including my 1978 Alpine A310!

As I currently don't really get to drive much in classic cars unfortunately, this is a moment I cherish a lot.

To make up a bit for all the missed classic car action this year, I am planning to visit @salon_epoquauto next week in Lyon, France, so if you plan to be there too (of course on frenchfriday preferrably), please give me a shout!

I am wishing you all a very happy weekend!

Spending this weekend in Prague, Czech Republic, and was prepared to see some old Skodas, but the only classic so far crossing my path was this Mercedes W120 Ponton!
Wishing you all a happy weekend!

The last week has been pretty intense in the car world: From a fantastic Paris Motor Show (see my post yesterday) right up to a very controversial flying Tesla! To wind things down a bit, I am finishing off the week with a calm and soothing picture of a sunset at Lough Corrib in Ireland with the Tesla Model X. This car was equipped with Falcon Wing doors 10 years ago, so what's all that fuss with flying cars right now?

And you? What have you been up to this weekend?

This would have been the week to be in Paris, but unfortunately I had no chance to go, despite trying really hard. The cars on display at the Paris Motor show were just mindblowing: The new Renault e-Space (my absolute favourite!), the Alpine A310 Vision concept, the Fiat Multipla... and of course the new Citroën 2CV electric!
Luckily enough, I got to see some French goodness around here too, it's #thedayafterfrenchfriday after all: A classic Citroën 2CV followed by an Ami!

Yesterday, I got intrigued by a post of @carsrob about a Vauxhall Cavalier estate/wagon, and I tried to find out if I ever crossed paths with one myself, but no: Negative. In the process of rummaging through some Irish pics shot earlier this year I stumbled upon a Cavalier CD on original BBS wheesl though, which probably isn't something you see every day either. So that's the best I can do for you today!

Hello Clan, how was your weekend?

I finally got to drive the @alpinecars A390, something I had on my bucket list for nearly a year. Three motors, AWD, Torque Vectoring and the well-known magic touch of the guys at Alpine make this a fantastic drivers car for a whole family! Love this car, but would have a hard time deciding between this and the A290.

And you? What have you been up to this weekend?

I absolutely love this picture of a 1964 Lancia Appia S3, such a happy face and fluid lines! These are the cars that always put a smile on my face whenever I see one. My classic car season has been a bit underpar this year, due to insanely dense weeks with other duties, so this Appia, despite being a humble and simple car, still represents a highlight for me.

I am wishing you all a happy weekend - just like this little Lancia!

Hello Clan, how was your weekend?
I had to work both days unfortunately, but nevertheless managed to sneak up to a location well known to @jellevanuem and @jobjoris today! This picture is taken from the Italian side of the hydro dam "Valle di Lei", where you can have a simple and typical Italian meal in a mountain hut. And that's exactly what I did today after work.
The last time I was here, we filmed and photographed the new electric Renault Twingo on the dam, together with my own converted Twingo. Now the colours have changed slightly into a more autumnal hue. And today I took the Renault Zoe R240 with me, a car that's still so fun to drive even after nearly 12 years of ownership.
And you? What have you been up to this weekend?

Although being a very popular and relevant classic, the Volkswagen Golf GTI features only very rarely here on this account (but then again today you even get two for one!).
Of course the reluctance has a reason: In my youth, the Golf-people always formed a subculture of their own, and a very different one compared to the French car people I belonged to. Although my generation was called "Generation Golf" as a whole, this subtle division and isolation somehow still exists up to this day. Don't get me wrong: The Golf might well be one of the most important and influential car of the seventies, but the culture that formed itself around it never really got me. Not sure if this is the same in other countries though, would be interested to know from you!
