Antony and Cleopatra - April 2026

A conceptual 1/4" model box for Scene Design 3 at the University of Michigan!

There are hours and hours poured into both the design and execution of this model, and I'm so so proud of it! I especially enjoyed hand texturing and carving the front portal and pillars, and a big shoutout to all of the paintbrushes that gave their lives to turn into foliage.

Concept:
To me, Antony and Cleopatra is about the slow yet inevitable fall of Egypt, or, any opposing forces to Caesar. My set plays into this lack of hope by having a large larger-than life painting of “The Death of Cleopatra” by Juan Luna slowly coming down to crush the Egyptian/Syrian landscape. The painting also serves as a rake in Act 3 for dynamic battle scenes, and its cutouts can be used for lighting effects and scene isolations. As Cleopatra becomes less respect as a leader and a woman, the men in this play quite literally walk all over her. by @ren_der_ings

...conquered Portfolio Review!

Wow wow wow wow wow!! Having so much insane work from both myself & my talented fellow d&ps in the same room was such a beautiful feeling. It's good to sometimes take a step back and remember why you love to create! Can't wait to make more things forever!!

Landscape Drop (6'x4') - Nov 2025

Oh my lovely landscape! Very proud of this one and a great journey of growth and comfort with painting clouds. The elevation (slide 2) was expanded to fit the aspect ratio of the frame I was on, and I feel great about my ability to continue the image beyond what I was given!! by @ren_der_ings

"Transforming Box" - Sept 2025

Inspired by the woodblock, pen work, and expressionist paintings of Lyonel Feininger.

This box tells the story of a man as he travels into the city in search of guidance and revelation. He starts on a bridge heading towards the town, travels down its long streets, and ends up at a chapel. As the acts progress, more definition and color is added to both the set and to his life.
Had a lot of fun working with this style and story!
