For the first time, Australia will have a National Environment Protection Agency – a strong, independent regulator with a clear focus on ensuring compliance with and enforcement of Australia’s new environmental laws.

Sadly, not everyone is happy …

Today my parliamentary colleague, independent MP Helen Haines, was attacked outside her electorate office in Wangaratta.

Helen is a kind, brave, principled and respected colleague.

Everyone deserves to be safe doing their job.

Our peaceful democracy depends on it.

I, my team, and the community of Griffith have Helen, her family and her community in our thoughts. taken in Stones Corner, Queensland by @reneecoffeymp

Huge thank you to Australian Conservation Foundation Griffith Group for presenting thousands of signatures to me today in support of Scott Reef.

Scott Reef is an isolated oceanic reef system located in the remote Timor Sea, about 270 kilometres off the Kimberley coast and roughly 425 kilometres northwest of Broome in north-west Western Australia.

It is Australia’s largest freestanding oceanic reef system, a 15-million-year-old marine wonderland and vital habitat for endangered pygmy blue whales, nesting green turtles and other threatened wildlife.

You might not have heard much about Scott Reef, but it’s a pretty special place.

And like all coral reefs, Scott Reef is threatened by rising sea levels and warming oceans caused by climate change. Also, Browse, Australia’s largest untapped conventional gas reserve, lies directly underneath Scott Reef and there is currently commercial intent to drill up to 50 wells to develop Browse.

Alongside the signatures they have presented to me to pass on to the Minister for the Environment Murray Watt - Senator for Queensland, they brought a banner filled with beautiful marine life - each signed by a local resident. This banner will first travel to Sydney’s Bondi Beach before also being presented to Murray Watt.

If this is your cat: please know, he was insistent that we become friends.

And he threw quite a bit of shade when I eventually told him I had to get back to doorknocking this morning! taken in East Brisbane by @reneecoffeymp

Are you a veteran who lives in Bulimba and surrounding suburbs?

Bulimba and District RSL host regular events, including these fantastic Veterans Health Expos. It was great to pop in this morning and hear from a local dietician about all the best ways to eat healthy and stay healthy. taken in Bulimba Community Centre by @reneecoffeymp

The National Redress Scheme is a government program established to support people who experienced institutional child sexual abuse. It has operated since 2018.

This past week our Joint Standing Committee on the Implementation of the National Redress Scheme tabled our report “Their Courage Our Responsibility”.

Thank you to all of the victim survivors and the Redress Support Services who shared so openly, courageously and generously with our Committee. taken in Parliament House, Canberra by @reneecoffeymp

Did you know our suburb of Coorparoo owes a big vote of thanks to Coorparoo State School?

The school actually gave its name to the surrounding suburb!

The school was opened on 31 January 1876, after local settler Samuel Stevens donated two acres of land. Before it existed, local children had to walk up to 10 miles to Kangaroo Point or attend Bulimba State School.

Yesterday we celebrated 150 years of Coorparoo State School! Congratulations to fabulous Principal Kym Amor, the organising committee, staff and of course all of the wonderful students. What a remarkable celebration!

Congratulations to Zoe Reader and all of the Eastern Suburbs FC players for a magnificent season!

Zoe was promoted from the academy into the NPL Women’s squad for the 2026 season, playing across the NPL Seniors and U23s, and helping guide the club deep into the 2026 finals series with crucial penalty shootout heroics!

It was great to celebrate Zoe and all the players this evening at the Eastern Suburbs Football Club Gala Awards Evening.
