In our next issue, we take a deep, evidence-based look at red light therapy. What it actually does at a biological level, why it’s gaining traction, and how to separate meaningful science from overstated claims.

We break it down from first principles to real-world use:

→ What red and near infrared light actually do at the cellular (mitochondrial) level
→ Why modern life drains cellular energy—and why red light may help fill that gap
→ Where the research is strong (healing, pain, recovery, skin) vs. where claims are overstated
→ How to think about panels vs. masks, wavelengths (660nm / 850nm), and dosing
→ Practical guidance on how often to use it, when to stop, and key safety considerations

The future of wellness is becoming less invasive, more consistent, and far more integrated into everyday life.

That’s one of the reasons red light therapy has become such an important category in both skincare and modern wellness.

Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to support healthy cellular function. In skincare, it’s commonly used to help support collagen production, circulation, skin tone, and the appearance of inflammation, all without needles, downtime, or aggressive treatments.

What makes it especially compelling is how approachable it is.

For many people, this becomes an entry point into higher-level wellness and aesthetics because it fits naturally into daily life. There is no recovery or complicated protocol. Just consistent support for the skin and underlying tissue over time.

And that consistency matters.

The best wellness tools are often the ones people actually use regularly, which is why we like the Renew Red Light mask as an at-home option. It’s simple, well-designed, easy to integrate into a routine, and gives people a practical way to experience red light therapy outside the treatment room.

At KOI, we’ve always believed wellness should extend beyond occasional appointments. It should become part of how you live, recover, age, and take care of yourself long term.

That’s why we curate products and technologies that align with that philosophy. Not trends. Not gimmicks. Tools that support the body in a thoughtful, sustainable way.

The Renew Red Light mask is now available at KOI Wellbeing in La Jolla for clients interested in bringing red light therapy into their home wellness routine.

Naturopathic + MD oversight, advanced testing, and care you can feel, backed by labs, not guesswork. This is educational content only. Not medical advice.

This isn’t the panel for everyone. But if you know, you know.

The Panorama Panel was designed to move with you, not the other way around. It rotates 360 degrees, adjusts to any height, and locks at any angle so you can use it exactly how you want.

Stand, sit, or lie flat. Tilt it overhead or angle it just so. No more contorting your body to fit the light. The panel adapts to you, giving you a seamless, full-body experience every time.

Once you’re in position, the light does the rest. Red, near-infrared, and blue wavelengths work together across your entire body, soothing muscles, calming inflammation, supporting skin, and energizing your cells. It’s a full-body reset that doesn’t just feel good, it works on a cellular level.

Most panels claim to be versatile. The Panorama actually is. It’s the first panel we’ve built that truly meets you wherever you are.

Red light doesn’t just set the mood. It changes the physiology.

When you walk into a studio bathed in red light, something shifts before the class even begins. Your nervous system starts to settle. Your body moves out of fight-or-flight and into the state yoga is designed to create. The practice becomes deeper before a single breath is taken.

That’s what @soulplunge understood when they brought Renew into their space. Red light isn’t an amenity here. It’s an extension of the work. A tool that amplifies everything their teachers are already doing for their clients’ minds and bodies.

And when the classes are done, the opportunity doesn’t stop. The hours between classes, the gaps, the off-peak windows, and the mornings before the schedule fills become a dedicated red light experience your members can book independently. Charge per session, fold it into a premium membership tier, or offer it as a standalone add-on. Studios are building a second revenue stream inside the same four walls they already pay rent on, without adding staff, without major buildout, and without disrupting what they’ve already built.

If you’re a yoga studio owner thinking about what’s next, reach out. We’d love to walk you through how spaces like Soul Plunge are turning existing square footage into a recovery experience their clients can’t stop talking about, and what that looks like as real, recurring revenue for your business.

Red Light and Sunburns
Here’s What the Research Shows

To begin, what is a sunburn?

A sunburn is an acute UV injury where UVB rays damage DNA in skin cells, trigger inflammation, and flood the area with oxidative stress, leading to heat, redness, tenderness, and—over time—collagen breakdown and visible aging.

In other words, too much UV exposure doesn’t just cause temporary redness; it sets off biochemical stress in the skin that can accelerate visible aging over time.

How does Red Light help?

Research in photobiomodulation (low-level light therapy) suggests red and near-infrared light may help support the skin’s natural recovery process by calming inflammation and supporting collagen and skin barrier function.

In the study “Protective Effect of Red Light‑Emitting Diode against UV‑B Radiation‑Induced Skin Damage”, researchers exposed skin to UVB radiation and then red light therapy.

Compared with UV exposure alone, the red light group showed:
• Reduced UV-induced inflammation
• Healthier density and organization of collagen and elastic fibers
• Improved markers related to skin barrier protection

Red light therapy has also been studied in burn and wound-healing models, where photobiomodulation accelerated wound closure and improved tissue repair markers at the cellular level. The underlying repair pathways overlap with those involved in recovery from UV-induced skin damage.

The emerging research points to the same core mechanisms: reducing inflammation, supporting skin structure, and promoting cellular repair. Some studies also suggest red light exposure before UV stress may help strengthen skin resilience, while post-exposure use may support recovery.

Red light is not a replacement for sunscreen or sun protection. This is an evolving area of research with growing peer-reviewed evidence.

A NEW DEVICE HAS ARRIVED AT RENEW ❤️‍🔥

Introducing the Panorama Panel, our most versatile red light system yet!

With a full 5.5-foot frame, 480 LEDs, and a 360° rotating electric stand, Panorama brings professional red light therapy into clinics, studios, and treatment spaces in a way that feels seamless, elevated, and easy to integrate.

But the real story isn’t the specs. It’s how it can be used.

This device has endless applications.

Aesthetic and functional health clinics use red light to support post-treatment recovery, calm inflammation, and help clients leave with skin that looks brighter and healthier.

Chiropractic and structural health practices incorporate red light before or after adjustments to improve tissue response and support circulation.

Fitness and performance studios create a dedicated recovery station that helps members move better, recover faster, and stay consistent with training.

Lymphatic and circulatory therapy practitioners layer red light into drainage and body-contouring sessions so clients feel lighter, less inflamed, and visibly smoother between visits.

The Panorama Panel also transforms how space works within a business. A small room, hallway nook, or underused area can quickly become a premium experience that clients naturally add to every appointment.

Red Light Therapy + Exosomes + Microneedling. Here’s why forward-thinking clinics are stacking them.

Microneedling and RF procedures like Morpheus8 create controlled injury to trigger collagen remodeling. Exosomes accelerate that repair by activating fibroblasts and reversing cellular aging signals. Both are powerful. But they work in a cellular environment, and that environment matters.

This is where red light fits.

Photobiomodulation (red and near-infrared light) works at the mitochondrial level. It increases ATP production, modulates inflammatory cytokines, supports collagen synthesis, and improves microcirculation. In short, it prepares tissue to respond better and recover faster.

The protocol framework looks like this:
→ Prime. 1–2 red light sessions before your procedure to optimize cellular energy and reduce baseline inflammation.

→ Repair. Red light within 24–48 hours post-treatment to calm acute inflammation, support angiogenesis, and accelerate re-epithelialization.

→ Maintain. 2x/week sessions through the remodeling phase to deepen and extend results.

A 2025 pilot combining microneedling with exosomes showed significant improvements in texture and pore size that held for 22+ weeks. A 2024 clinical study showed 12 red light sessions produced extreme improvement in skin rejuvenation outcomes.

Biology supports stacking these. The clinical data is growing.

Red light doesn’t replace your regenerative treatments, it makes them work in a better environment.
