Delicately thin and fragile, reminiscent of broken eggshells, these clay vessels represent life, vulnerability and impermanence. An unbroken egg holds potential, a life not yet realised. Its shell protects, symbolising safety, innocence & possibility. When broken, something has emerged; what was once protected becomes visible and exposed. A loss of innocence. I created this body of work, whilst supporting my father, an accomplished sculptor, in the final stage of his life. The quiet, repetitive act of forming each pinch pot became a meditative, grounding practice within my grief. This series invites reflection on the impermanence of life, the depth of love, and the inevitability of loss. Like us, these delicate, broken forms glow from within, carrying a quiet, enduring strength. • • • • • • • #imperfectlyperfect❤️ #ceramicsculpture #contemporarysculpture #handbuiltceramics #artiststory taken in Cape Town by @renexart

Each piece I make takes shape slowly, with love, care, and attention. Here they are unfired, fragile, and imperfect. 😊 Each holding its own story, with beauty emerging gently through the creative process. I love how they look in this raw state… authentic, unpolished, and full of potential. • • • • • • • #studioworkinprogress #ceramicsculpture #contemporaryceramics #handbuiltceramics #artinprogress taken in Cape Town by @renexart

After a long time away, I’m finally ready to return and share again. This past period has been one of the most difficult and transformative times in my life, shaped by deep personal loss and change. I stepped back to be present with my family, and in that space, my work quietly became a source of healing. I’m now ready to share a body of work that carried me through my grief. The Egg of Life / Fragility Series is a collection of delicate, hand-formed pinch pots, shaped until they become almost impossibly thin - like broken eggshells. For me, the egg is a symbol of life’s beginning, yet here it appears fractured, revealing gold within. These forms speak to the fragile nature of life, the inevitability of loss, and the quiet strength we carry. Each piece became a kind of meditation - a gentle, grounding process through which I could hold grief, memory, and love. What began in pain slowly transformed into something softer… into beauty. This series is an invitation to reflect on impermanence, on love, and on this beautiful life we live - imperfectly perfect. Thank you for being here 🤎 Dm me if you would like to find out more. • • • • • • • • • • #ceramicart #contemporaryceramics #griefislove #ceramicsculpture #wabisabi taken in Cape Town by @renexart

We tend to overcomplicate life. Letting go of things can be liberating, enabling you to see the beauty in simple things.
