Meet RepOne EStack - an electronic weight stack designed to augment or replace traditional iron selectorized stacks and plates ⬇️

POSTS STORIES REELS

EStack is the world’s first digital weight stack meant to integrate directly into your favorite exercise equipment. We don’t make equipment, we focus on one thing and one thing only. Making the best possible tech. Super smooth, intuitive UI, tons of modes, great software. Digital weight itself isn’t new, we just approached it from a different angle because we saw what was being made and thought, “this could be so much better”. Ask any lifting nerd what their favorite machine is in each category: lat pulldown, hack squat, chest supported row, cable functional trainer, leg press, pec deck, shoulder press, etc. You’ll hear a different manufacturer for each category. If we built our own equipment, there’s 0% chance we’ll beat the experts at their own game. And if they try to build digital weight, there’s 0% chance they all build the best tech. If digital weight is truly the future of strength, the only way we can make you the best possible digital weight equipment is through collaboration. by @reponestrength

Our goal is to replace every weight stack in the world with EStack. Have questions? Drop them below. by @reponestrength

We’ve been thinking about Dropset mode for over a year now. But when we finally built it, something quickly became obvious… your muscles aren’t 10 lbs weaker on your 9th rep versus your 8th rep, you only drop 10 lbs because you’re using old school analog weight stacks. Then we saw Aaron Donald hold a giant water jug as the water drained and it hit us. Muscles don’t get weaker in 10 lb increments, it’s more continuous. In fact during a set, force output can increase before it starts to decrease. So we built Waterfall mode. What do you think? Is this the ultimate dropset? by @reponestrength

EStack started with a simple belief. Digital weight only matters if people actually prefer using it. That meant getting the feel, resistance, smoothness, and training capabilities right before all else. Our goal is to make advanced strength training feel completely normal, whether you’re an elite athlete or someone adding a single pound to your last workout. We’re already working with equipment partners on both new machines and retrofit options, while continuing to push EStack toward broader accessibility. Build the best version first, then make it available to everyone. by @reponestrength

Dude, what is this??🤔 by @reponestrength

Believe it or not, manufacturing this little rubber part in the US instead of China made it cheaper, faster, and more durable. by @reponestrength

When we first tried digital weight, our reaction was “Why isn’t this everywhere??”

Set aside the sports science of isokinetics, eccentric overload, velocity based training, etc. It just feels great, and it’s super approachable to use. It reminded us of our decade of experience making VBT products. It was the PERFECT marriage of exercise science and real (not gimmicky) training.

Our theory was simple. Digital weight tech is hard, you have to be a tech company to build it. But tech company business models incentivise overbuilt all-in-one products to drive content subscription revenue. Gyms have hundreds of pieces of equipment, that approach simply will never get digital weight where the average person trains.

If we focused just on digital weight, and let equipment companies focus on making great equipment, we could get it in every gym in the world.

What do you think? Will digital weight be in your neighborhood gym in 10 years? by @reponestrength

How much will EStack cost?

I know you want me to tell you a number, but I can’t right now. It would be irresponsible. But I can do something a little odd, since I’m the CEO, Head of Hardware Engineering, and Chief Instagram Description Writer. I can tell you exactly how much each of the latest batch of EStack prototypes cost.

$2475.08

It consists of 451 parts, 9 of them ordered from outside of the US. Most of the expensive custom parts were made in batches of between 3 and 8 parts (doing us no favors on volume pricing).

This latest version is what’s called a DVT prototype, it’s the final step before we design the unit that goes to manufacturing. That means it’s overbuilt and unoptimized, utilizing essentially zero ‘tooled’ parts, like injection molding or sheet metal stamping, where serious cost is saved.

And it was still under $2,500 each.

Do I have an idea of what it will cost in our manufacturing prototype? Sure, I have a pretty good idea. If I were to write down a number, would it be wrong? Absolutely guaranteed to be inaccurate.

So rather than rush to give a price, I’m hoping you will be patient with us so we can do things the right way by @reponestrength

Every single piece of gym equipment will change in the next 5-10 years.

The reason RepOne exists is to fulfill a singular goal - make it easy for everybody to lift heavy things. We created our first Velocity Based Training product, OpenBarbell (now Tether), not to help teams win more games, but to help make barbell training easier by answering the question “what do I do next?” It was a marriage between real exercise science and practical training.

We aren’t just engineers, we’re also lifting nerds. When accelerometer and camera based VBT products became popular, due to their ease of use for beginners, we developed our own internal test units and it became clear that you can’t get the same rock solid accuracy and reliability as Tether based sensors. So instead of releasing a product that didn’t meet our standard, we started looking for other ways to realise our purpose of making heavy lifting more accessible.

That’s when we tried digital weight. We knew that it was the missing link to getting more people to lift heavy. Like a trojan horse, the smooth feel and ease of use could sneak real exercise science into equipment.
