✨ THIS is what supporting local looks like. ✨

I recently visited Precious Frivolities, an Open Doors participant, and got to experience a space filled with truly one-of-a-kind pieces you simply won’t find anywhere else.

April brought together 5 local artists, designers, and creatives to fill the space with beautifully made, thoughtfully curated pieces — each one bringing its own story, style, and personality to the shop. 🎨🛍️

And honestly, that’s what I love most about shopping local in Kansas City. I couldn’t find ANY of these unique pieces anywhere else because they were created by local talent and brought together right here in our community.

KC has such an incredible creative scene, and I love immersing myself in the artists, makers, designers, and small businesses that make this city so special. ❤️

When you shop local, you’re not just buying something — you’re supporting someone’s creativity, passion, and small business.

There’s a new spot on the martini corner, and it’s about to be your new favorite.

The Daiquiri District brings together @howlinfowls fried chicken, @districtbiskuits Biskuits, and @brainfreeze_daiquiri daiquiris under one roof, and honestly, KC needed this.

They’re part of the Open Doors program too, which means this is a local business getting the support needed so let’s go show them some love.

✨ Open Doors! Business Tours: Daiquiri District

This episode of Open Doors! Business Tours takes us inside Daiquiri District, where owner James Thomas is bringing frozen drinks, food, music, and high-energy island vibes to 408 E. 31st Street.

Joined by @valentiinagm, we get a look at the experience behind the concept—from signature daiquiri flavors like strawberry piña colada and FAFO to comfort-food favorites including spicy cheese curds, fried mac and cheese bombs, mashed potatoes and gravy, and braised green beans.

Daiquiri District is more than a place to grab a drink. It’s being built as a destination for good food, good music, and a fun atmosphere people can enjoy together.
