This weekend @coloradoapt hosted the Fall Conference @judishouse. The weekend was beautiful. A space where collaboration flowed (just like the coffee generously donated by @glissade.coffee). At the end @drrozheiko brought us together on the lawn for a meaningful goodbye ritual. It’s been 13 years since I’ve consistently been in a grief center. Tonight’s fall closing circle reminded me of the closing circles @jessicas_house. Thank you @drrozheiko for such a meaningful goodbye.

It was a unique experience to attend @emdr_ia in person. So much deep and rich information. I am eager to download all the content, process the lectures, search the articles and take it back to my clients. Great to connect with new and old faces. I had so much fun with Jessica. I can vividly remember how anxious we were as worked through in person training in 2017. Lastly grateful for the @southwestair agent at 12:04 am that helped me get on an earlier flight. 🩷 credits done ✔️ home 🏡 by @resilientminds

When you grow up as a third culture kid (TCK), you rarely think twice about the moves, changing schools, and constantly meeting new friends. As a military kid, you’re taught to trust the process, believe in your parent’s mission, and appreciate that you are living a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Eventually something shifts. You grow older and begin to understand the quiet toll that comes with moving, starting over, and building friendships while knowing you will soon say goodbye.
I moved more than 12 times and, by graduation, had attended nine different schools (often surprisingly reconnecting with familiar faces along the way).
Old Dominion University (ODU) became one of my first true “homes”—a place where I stayed for four years. It was where I began to form my own voice, shape my own beliefs, and build an independent identity. While that is a common experience for many college students, it carried particular meaning for me as a TCK.
ODU sits near more than a dozen major military installations, and I think that proximity created an unspoken sense of familiarity and belonging. Virginia had also been home at different points in my childhood, making it easier to recognize pieces of shared experience in new friendships.
Today, my heart is heavy. I am absolutely gutted by the act of violence and terrorism that occurred on the campus that helped shape me.
I am deeply grateful to the brave students who stepped forward to protect their classmates and to the community members who responded so quickly. May stories, connection, and shared remembrance help hold the Monarch community as it mourns the loss of LTC Brandon Shah—not only a faculty member, but a fellow graduate.
My hope is simple and profound: one day every student and educator can walk onto a campus knowing their safety is guaranteed. I am proud to be an Old Dominion University Alumni (C/O 2008)

20% of mental health professionals work in private practice (individual and group). Join the National Alliance for Children’s Grief Discussion Hub this Friday, March 13, at 10:00 AM MT / 12:00 PM ET. This space is created for those supporting grieving children, teens, and families to explore concerns and share experiences that arise in the private practice setting. Together we are stronger than alone.#discussionhub #childrensgrief #privatepractice #NACGdiscussionhub by @resilientminds

Happy International Women’s Day! I’m grateful for these two incredible women who I presented alongside this past week at ADEC! The presentations were small and engaging. I most appreciated the intimacy and connection in the groups! Thank you @kaileybradley8 and @meganlopez

We (Stephanie and Jessica) are putting together a presentation about how to talk to kids about difficult 'breaking news', including proactive measures and follow up support.

We will be talking about things like natural disasters (hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, wildfires, tsunamis, landslides, etc.)

We will be talking about man-made disasters and trauma like gun violence, abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, human trafficking), racial trauma, and adverse media exposure.

We will be talking about medical and mental health-based traumatic situations like life-limiting/terminal diagnoses, substance abuse, and mental health, and how this impacts kids.

We will also be talking about some other situations that can be potentially traumatic and difficult for children, like military deployments and refugee trauma.

We need experts in the fields that support or talk about the above.

We want to know from you--what can we do to best support children experiencing these situations?

If you are willing to take 4 minutes to fill out a survey, we would be so appreciative.

Comment 'SURVEY' for the link.

Thank you all in advance! by @resilientminds

#Throwback to an amazing Peer Grief Support Training with our new clinicians and volunteer co-facilitators. Together, we learned to companion the bereaved and explored our own grief through activities like drumming, sand trays, and art. We look forward to continuing — and expanding — our free peer grief support programming on the Cape & Islands. 🩵
