Pamela Colman Smith (1878–1951)
[Untitled, possibly exhibition poster from 291 street signboard], 1907

Ink and watercolor on paper
_____

Today I came across this piece by Pamela Colman Smith. There is a simplicity to the composition that makes it personal and strong.

Elements bound by gravity, but the water is still. An intimate moment of solitude. A surrender that recharges.

Pigeons remind me of home. I want to create a sculpture of a pigeon, using corrugated cardboard as a base and building up layers of detail through the traditional Mexican technique of cartoneria.

Base is ready. I plan on adding more cardboard layers, and then getting started with the flour paste for the details.

LURING DARKNESS

This image came to me in a dream. A dark ethereal figure at the center, luring everything around it.

When I woke up I had to get it down before it disappeared — quick sketch before the shower, before work. Got home tonight and went back in for a more resolved version.

Lately I’ve been tuning into certain ideas I don’t fully understand. I’ve been challenging myself not to rationalize them. Just pour them out.

For years I have been carrying a creative flame that took a long time to find its form. Lately I have been learning to give myself the space to be still.

This is the beginning of @resonant.source . A place to share the work, honor the process, and stay accountable to both.

I hope something here resonates.
