Hello 2024

I have so much to say about 2023. I’ll need to really dedicate the time to reflect.

However it was a push through year and one of many new transitions. God speaks to me very clearly when it’s time to exit a season, and restlessness over takes me.

Despite knowing the how, I moved out of NYC, started a new position at Fidelity, found a new church community.

I traveled, lost and buried a dear Aunt.
Physically I endured a lot of health problems but 2023 is truly the year I prioritized myself, my goals and got clear on the results I wanted to see. I think for so long while I was doing stuff, I wasn’t certain of direction. I had to learn to become decisive about what I truly wanted and God honored all of that.

It was also where I really developed spiritual maturity, and worshipping through storms and pushing past fear and anxiety.

What a difference a year makes, last winter I felt defeated and a bit hopeless. I was bedridden for a lot of winter, got sick back to back.

And lately, I’m feeling more encouraged. I look back on all those posts it’s and prayers I wrote on my walls, a lot while crying and I am grateful.

2024 will be continued acceleration and advancement for me.

Basking in joy and overflow.

2023 has been a year of many transitions and seeing the fullness of prayers, victory of trials and seeds of faith I planted in private.

Sad to be missing InvestFest (in person) this year but grateful I got to go last year.

I’m also reminded of the time, in April of 2022 I left my building to do some errands. I’m like I’m not gonna see anyone.

I walk my usual route and I see a community event going on. So I’m glad let me go see what’s happening here and I see @troymillings and I’m like omg what are you doing here. 🤣.

I had to let him know how much the EYL Podcast helped me, and I’ve been following from the very beginning. He was so kind and nice. Had the best convo and then I kept going. And I was like omg I didn’t ask for a picture 🤣.

I said to myself, if you walk back and you see both Rashad and Troy then you HAVE to ask for one. And that’s exactly what I did cause what are the odds!

I also saw Robert Smith and I saw Steve Harvey and my former primary care physician, Dr. Ken Redcross( best doctor in the world).

The community event was unveiling The Mount Sinai Robert F. Smith Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening Unit, equipped to perform screenings and tests, supports prostate health in the Black community.

If I had the opportunity to meet them again I would pitch my vision for a robust financial literacy initiative in partnership with NYCHA, starting with Wagner Houses.

Moral of the story, you never know who you’ll meet when you go outside. God has a way of aligning people in all sorts of ways. taken in Robert F Wagner Houses by @resourcejess

Went to check out the Jay-Z exhibit.

Well run and organized. Line moved fast. Also I just love black people, we curate community waiting in lines. Beautiful to see.

Palo Alto is cuteeeee. 10/10

Between the warmer weather and charming spots, this might be my new favorite in Cali.

San Fran is too cold. 🤣.
I always do a random walk when I travel so here are some pics. taken in Palo Alto, California by @resourcejess

Pictures don’t really do it justice but I thought Stanford’s campus was absolutely beautiful.

I spent several hours bopping around campus.

First time visiting Palo Alto California. Much much warmer than the bay 🤣. I had an amazing time hiking and being free outdoors. Cause where can you see these views in Harlem 🤣.

Movement means a lot to me and traveling. It always reminds me I’m not stuck. Much of fall I was sick back to back and bed ridden, so I’m grateful when I can enjoy my life despite managing a very cruel chronic illness. And it’s even better in community and friends. taken in Palo Alto, California by @resourcejess

I’m really grateful that when I decided to study to be a CFP last fall I found out about the Association of African American Financial Advisers. I became a member and joined the partnership committee. I’m really passionate about closing the racial wealth gap, so this is one way I live out that mission. The connections I’ve made there thus far have been so incredibly valuable to me in this journey.

Last month, I attended their annual V.I.S.I.O.N. Lite conference. It was incredible to be in community, learn and grow.

One thing I know for sure is the power of community. Thank you @quadasocial taken in Times Square, New York City by @resourcejess

June Dump Part I

These months are flying. I haven’t gotten a chance to re-cap April and May.

June for me was a mix of random adventure and monotony, time to follow through on a lot of my ideas and also rest. A lot of time healing and checking off experiences in New York City. I walked the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time 😭😩 (not sure why I haven’t done it). Got a chance to check out Sei Less and Harriet’s at night is a vibe.

Praying for July to be a reset, aligned type month. taken in New York, New York by @resourcejess
