Suicide at 14
An excerpt from Silent Corner: Journey of Strength
A discussion of the Black mental health crisis through the eyes of a Black girl with Harlem roots, Southern roots, and North Bronx roots. She attended private schools, smiled when expected, and carried herself with strength. Yet behind closed doors lived secrets so private, so painful, they almost destroyed her.
At fourteen, the weight of silence became unbearable. The wounds no one saw nearly convinced her to end her own story. But what was meant to break her became part of her journey toward healing, resilience, and truth.
This is not just a story about surviving suicide at fourteen. It is a story about surviving the silence, confronting the stigma surrounding Black mental health, and finding the courage to live when everything inside says give up.

Sisterhood is one of the most important relationship of my core being. As the baby of 5 siblings that were 6 -15 years my senior, allowed me to develop a circle of sisters who became my backbone, confidant, cheerleader, therapist. and pillar of strength throughout my life’s. My circle is small, strong, beautiful, loyal, hip hop og, ride or die kind of vibe! They know the codes, barriers, secrets, triggers, unmasked, They have seen and experienced the pain, laughter, funerals, weddings, break up’s, divorce and accolades of achievements that were exceptional I am thankful for my childhood, college, and women who were destined to be a part of my #kmilesjourney. Black sisterhood is rooted in our African Ancestry. Our mothers, aunts, grandmothers and great great great grandmothers gave birth to the necessary codes, rules, and shaped our Crowns to be worn amongst us all without jealousy, hate, and no competition amongst each other. As I wear my crown in this new 55th birthday month, I give God all the praise for surrounding me with fierce, bad ass boss talented black women that will fight with and for you to help you win . The sisters that will pack, run, create the atmosphere for us to pray, slay, cry, and help resolve the problem by any means necessary! The stories of struggle and triumphs in spite of the unforeseen tragedies in which my sisterhood has always shown up to show out is priceless and a unique guide of abundant love that heals our wounds! I am filled up with gratitude, tears, and thanksgiving today as I reflect on my sisterhood circle for life!

Sunday healing into wellness through spiritual refuel. Thankful for my church family led by God’s word under the anointed steps of my Pastor @fcbcnyc ! The essential question is “How long does it take for Hope to die in you?” My takeaway from service today :
“God will show up and bring you out of a life illness, even when you are not an active participant. Due to so many traumatic reoccurrences of Cancer or other darkness you are tired of fighting; but God is not ready for your life to end. Your story will not be destroyed it will manifest into Life and Glory! Do not surrender to hopelessness, even in your exhausted being. Allow your faith and God’s Grace to show up. We must speak life info our challenges and life threatening illness! “ @mikewalrond @fcbcnyc @isisrosinabruno @griotz @thecancerpatient @cancerbuddyapp

I was really going through really badly in which I had to stop, drop everything before I lost myself in the projection of what could be; instead of the now! High End Spa indulgence and reconnecting to align with my inner self was pivotal and necessary. The process of healing is challenging, but empowering from pain to insight! Not being in control of your body as it goes through a physical spiritual metamorphosis because of the Cancer toxins has been an educational epiphany ready for publication! I am hopefully, prayerfully, and faithfully experiencing breakthroughs, while being broken down! #foodforthougjt

As I continued to be vulnerable in my “Healing to Wellness #KMilesjourney Against 7th Mestatic Breast Cancer in my Bones, neuropathy is part of the sporadic pain which attacks my feet at any given time. It has been part of my journey since my first battle at 29/30 years old Stage 4 Breast Cancer. It is not my story, but part of the cross. Let your heart, mind, and body be healed and not distracted! by: @silentcornerkmiles

Let the Sun in. Learning to grow from my words and advice to other. Yesterday after speaking with my oncologist about my PET scan results regarding the status of my cancer in my bones, I literally went into an emotional spiral . I had to stop myself and look with in with kind gentleness. Learning to shift my mindset. God is my Grace! He is your Grace! today is a new day filled with sun. Even in our test; We are winning! “God is within her. She will not fail” Psalm 46:5.

“Do not let any circumstance or human being determine your anointed purpose; nor let negative experiences feed your mind. Life is about experiences, lessons, and self exploration. Never be fixated on what did not go right. Refocus on the opportunities of success and setbacks as the audition! You are performing perfecting and evolving for the right one! The right one is you. You are your own director and choreographer to your story. The beauty is that you can change the narrative or edit for revisions unapologetically on your own terms! Happy Friday !” #realtalkwithprofkmiles #kmilesjourney #healingjourney #blackauthorsofinstagram
