It's an exciting day for us here at Respectacle. We are finally able to share our latest video with you all. As much as we hate appearing in front of the camera, video content plays a really important role in marketing our small business to customers. Although we won't be winning an Oscar anytime soon, we better get used to it 😄

A big thank you must go to Jonathan at @bellyfloptv for putting this together for us. We wanted a fun video to showcase who we are and what we do, and Jonathan delivered the goods.

We'd also like to thank our lovely customers and friends, Sarah and Helen, for being brave enough to star in our latest production. You were both amazing, and we couldn't have done it without you.

The frame she chose vs. the one that almost made the cut. 👓

Do you remember Ruth? Already a Respectacle client, Ruth came to see us back in May. At the time, she was debating whether to reglaze her existing frame or treat herself to a new pair.

Now, Ruth has always had a soft spot for L.G.R and so naturally she wanted to try on a few frames from the collection. Fast forward to now and she’s gone in an entirely different direction!

Here's Ruth looking very stylish in her gorgeous new @resrei_eyewear. The model, Hella, features a cat-eye shape and looks so good in the red tortoiseshell combo. We paired the acetate frame with @seiko_visionuk Brilliance lenses.

9 Things Your Eyes Can Tell You About Your Eye Health

As National Eye Health Weeks starts to draw to a close for another year, here’s 9 things your eyes might be trying to tell you about the health of your eyes.

1. Changes in your vision: blurred or distorted vision shouldn’t be dismissed as something that happens to your eyes as you get older.

2. Headaches: recurring headaches can often be associated with uncorrected vision problems.

3. Dry or irritated eyes: persistent dryness can have a number of causes, including screen use and ageing.

4. Difficulty seeing at night: if you’re struggling with night vision or glare, it’s worth having a conversation with your optometrist.

5. Signs of glaucoma: a sight test can detect early signs of glaucoma, often before you’ve even noticed any symptoms.

6. Changes in your peripheral vision: an important sign that needs further investigation.

7. Signs of high blood pressure: your eyes can sometimes reveal changes associated with hypertension.

8. Changes in the appearance of your eyes: redness, swelling or any other unusual changes shouldn’t be ignored.

9. And lastly… Signs associated with diabetes: changes in the blood vessels at the back of the eye can sometimes indicate diabetes or diabetic eye disease.

Your eyes are giving you clues about your eye health. Please don’t ignore them. If you haven’t had an eye test recently, National Eye Health Week is a good reminder to book an appointment.

Yes, your eyes have entered the chat… and they have a few things to say about how you look after them. From advanced eye tests to dry eyes, and ageing eyes to your child’s vision, read on to learn more about good eye health. 💪🏻

Okay, so you can see fine and don’t appear to have any eye health concerns. But an eye test isn’t just about whether you can read the smallest letters on the chart.

A comprehensive eye examination is also about checking your eye health and spotting signs of certain eye conditions.

An OCT scan will give us detailed images of the structures at the back of your eyes, too. Providing additional information alongside your regular eye exam.

Watery eyes can be a symptom of dry eye. Yes, we know it’s contradictory. But it’s true. 💦

The environment, ageing, contact lens wear and screen time can also contribute to dry eye symptoms.

If your eyes feel tired, irritated or gritty, you don’t have to put up with it. Persistent eye discomfort is not something you should simply tolerate. So come and speak to us about your options.

Children may not realise their vision could be clearer, or that one of their eyes isn’t working as well as the other.

That’s why regular eye checks are important. Even if your child seems perfectly happy and hasn’t complained about issues with their eyesight. 👀

Your eyes don’t stay the same forever. As we get older, our eyes change. And that’s okay.

Have you noticed that reading takes more effort, and focusing up close has become harder?

Some changes are just a normal part of ageing. But others could be a sign of eye conditions that need attention.
