A Call to Action: Be in Practice, Memory, Healing and Remembrance!
Birthed by: @iamruthjeannoel
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
It’s my book anniversary and What’s a celebration without cake?

A year ago, I did something that I always dreamed of, publishing a book.

It took a whole lot of discipline to write and it took even more of a push to publish this book! Gratitude to my ancestors for that push and deep love to my community for reading and uplifting this work!

I sincerely wouldn’t have been able to birth this book without the support of my family, my elders and my community. Our work continues!

Stay tuned to see how this work continues to unfold 💫

Elements of Nature | Water

The ocean doesn’t hurry, and it doesn’t stop.

In many of our traditions, ocean water is medicine. It holds movement, depth, and memory.

🌊 Salt cleanses. It pulls out what doesn’t belong and helps us heal.
🌊 Tides remind us that everything has a rhythm. We come in and go out, rest and return.
🌊 Depth teaches us that calm and power can live in the same place. What’s on the surface isn’t the whole story.
🌊 Memory: the ocean carried our ancestors. It knows grief, and it knows survival. For many of us, it’s still a place where we pray, release, and remember.

Elements of Nature | Be like Water

This perspective ensures we don’t overexert our power but engage in shared power dynamics. It’s important to acknowledge that we cannot force anyone to do something they are uncomfortable with. Everything must come from within.

Have you read my story about how I was introduced to Sage?

“I often use sage to cleanse the space and even use it as a talking piece, but my first introduction to sage was actually not so pleasant.”

Book Excerpt from Restorative Justice Practices: Circle Keeping for Community Healing

In a circle, everything said is valid because it comes from your truth and personal experience. The act of sitting in a circle means embodying the values and guidelines set forth. It’s more about the process and your thoughts than simply waiting for your turn to speak. Communication is vital, fostering momentum and continuity until the circle naturally concludes.
