Wongwongpowpow Supper Club + Club Kowloon at Revier, 28th and 29th August.

The Hong Kong–style French toast 西多士 (literally meaning “Western toast”) never goes out of fashion. Even though it’s labour intensive to execute for a five‑course menu for 30 people, it holds such nostalgia, history and is a crowd pleaser that it always finds its way back to the menu. It reflects Hong Kong’s colonial past and Western influences, but also HK’ers culinary palate and urge to upgrade any dish, like this French toast by adding fragrant peanut butter and deep frying it to get a golden crust, before drenching it with syrup or condenced milk to give it a juicy, almost custardy texture.

With fruits coming into season in eastern Norway, we’ve been playing with what’s fresh around us. Pears picked straight from a tree in Oslo were boiled down to a syrup for pear pickled lotus root. Plums from Ringerike became a spiced plum sauce with ginger, topped on tea leaf eggs for a sour tang. To mark the turn into autumn, one of the the main courses was a lamb stew braised in fermented bean curd.

@clubkowloonofficial curated a perfect vinyl session to complete the evening.

Huge thanks to @revier.oslo and @espencook for the collab.

@breiolf, @cccilie and @_vaarin made this all come together, and @_xinli_ took the most amazing photos.

Thanks, Oslo🫶
