Iron Man 2 has always been one of my favourites. It was one of the first movies I remember being truely excited for and this set piece was always a stand out.
With Lego’s recent Marvel diorama series, the available minifigures perfect for the scene and an idea for the Hammer Drones, I knew I had to recreate this scene!

The MOC came together pretty easily as I had a solid idea of wha I wanted it to look like with the river. I decided very early on that I wanted the cherry blossom and waterfall but it took a little while to figure out the second tree and the rock formation as I hadn’t done any landscapes before. I even added some rocky angles behind the waterfall.
I wish Lego would make more diorama sets but they seem to have moved away from them with both Marvel and Star Wars. I like the Epic Battles series by @revilod_customs

Plo Koon’s Delta-7 Jedi Starfighter MOC

With the recent microfighter, EVERYONE has been making proper minifig compatible builds of this ship and so I chose to do something a little different by making this build modular to reflect both its appearances in Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars.

The biggest difference is with the Astromech position between the movie’s Delta-7 and the cartoon’s Delta-7B. I included the standard 2x4 cutout for R7-D4 in the middle of the fighter for a TCW look but the gap can be filled in with a small build to complete the fuselage with the droid’s head set on the wing in place of R4-F5 in Revenge of the Sith.

I was never a huge fan of the Rhinoceros Machine but it’s really grown on me recently and so I decided to design my own. Many people have design them and often more in the style of Hulk Buster builds that can seat a figure inside them but I decided to go for a more scaled build which gives me an excuse not to worry about making an Aleksei Sytsevich figure.

I had a fair bit of difficulty getting the chest canopy design but the rest of the build came together quote quickly. It’s always interesting making these MOCs because you learn so much about the designs and notice details you otherwise wouldn’t have. by @revilod_customs

Hammer Drones
Custom painted figures representing the 4 drones to compliment the Iron Man 2 diorama I recently posted.
The Lightyear sets really inspired these figures as they had the perfect armour pieces in all the right colours with details that pretty closely matched the movie models. I just needed to wipe the print on the shoulders.
These figures are why it took so long to post the MOC as I kept going back and forth on the amount of detail to include and didn’t want to burn myself out. I eventually simplified the design and finished a base for all of them before going back and adding a bit more detail again.

Army
Features a shoulder mounted cannon.
One of the more iconic designs. Dark tan was perfect and delay in painting these figures meant that dark tan ingots became available to really improve the figure. The base Lego design is used on the Navy and Marine versions but this one has a square pattern.

Navy
Features shoulder mounted missile pods.
The other iconic one. Sand blue is the perfect naval colour. The missile pods were essential to get right and I’m very happy with how they turned out. Again with the same leg design but with some rivets.

Airforce
No additional accessories but he’s stood out as one of my favourites with the unique leg design. The colour is a little less clear given you only see the drones at night. Some takes opt for a less blue colour but I think it’s similar enough to the Navy one which also meant I could get a consistent armour print to use as the base rather than using the LBG one from Dune and wiping the print entirely.

Marines
Features retractable chainsaw blades that weren’t shown in the film.
Dark green is a pain to use as a base as nothing is very visible. The armour print used black rather than grey like the others but the black paint on the torso and legs was just too mat by @revilod_customs

Everyone is making minifig scale Plo Koon Jedi Starfighters and so am I.
Heavily based on Obi-Wan’s 2022 set but I’ve addressed a lot of the flaws I’ve found with it.
Parts are on their way so I should have it completed in a few weeks! Let me know your thoughts and what others you’d like to see!

Custom Civil War Captain America with modified shield.

It’s a coincidence that I’m posting this when AoU Cap reuses are topical, but I’ve been annoyed by its overuse since the 2016 Civil War sets. We were fortunate (especially in comparison to recent figures) to get Endgame Cap back in 2021 but we still don’t have his Civil War suit. Seeing as he wears the same, but worn down suit in Infinity War, I always figured an easy custom would be to take that figure and simply paint the star on the torso and swap the head. I got the extra IW fig years ago but after finally got the motivation after finding some dual-moulded dark blue/dark brown legs.

As for the shield, there’s never been a particularly good way to attach it to his back. The existing piece just wouldn’t work so I bought an extra and cut off the handle with a hobby saw, used a drill bit to put a small hole in its place and cut part of a bar to glue in (originally I planned to use an anti-stud but figured this would be more versatile).
It can now attach to his back via a neck bracket but has limited posing in his hand. This could be potentially improved with a Harry Potter wand or even the long aerial piece to add a ball joint for a universal connection.

General Obi-Wan Kenobi custom

Made pretty much the same way Anakin was. The decals as well as the armour came from @avfigures
The leg decals are from the Jedi general set while the arms are from a realistic clone trooper to reflect the live action look. The shoulders were cut from the armour and stuck to the arms. I carved out the neck hole so the head would sit lower as well as removing the pins on his chest that were designed to mount a cape. This piece was a lot more fragile than Anakin’s though and the edge of the armour cracked when cutting it which meant I had to resculpt and paint it which was annoying as white paint is awful to work with.

The robes and belt were made the same way as Anakin with painted cloth and receipt paper with sculpted pouches and buckle. The head was a 2012 Obi-Wan head with a painted the neck and I repainted the beard on to resemble the 2020 design. I also gave the hair a darker wash.

The lightsaber was again made following @lm9_productions tutorial with some cut up elements and sculpting decorated with paint and a liquid chrome pen.

General Anakin Skywalker custom

Finished him like 10 months ago but delays with Obi-Wan meant delays with the posts. Excluding the heavily sculpted figures like Jaro Tapal or Ninth Sister, Anakin is probably the most complicated figure I’ve ever made and I’m very happy with the result.

The boot decals, cape and armour pieces are from @avfigures
I cut the shoulders off and glued them to the arms. The neck hole was carved out as well so the head could sit slightly lower.

I painted cloth for the robes and painted and glued multiple layers of receipt paper to create the belt which I then sculpted the pouches and canisters onto. The buckle was made from a cut up can.

The gloves were made using receipt paper again, giving his right glove extra thin strips for the straps with a gray wash to pronounce them. Each hand has sculpted glove tops to fill the gap in.

The lightsaber was based on @lm9_productions design and made using some cut up elements with sculpting decorated with paint and a liquid chrome pen.

Rogue Shadow MOC

I first built this 6 months ago but after seeing @avfigures and @jakobkaisermocs Galan Marek and Juno Eclipse figures, I wanted to wait to include them. I have also made a few modifications to allow better access to the interior which previously was quite restricted. This does mean that the instructions will be delayed.

This is my own take on the ship, mostly derived from its appearance in the first Force Unleashed game but with more of an Inquisitor look. It was always a weird looking ship but I did like its asymmetrical wings, hyperdrive and weapons/antennas(?) I wasn’t so much a fan of the wider port side of the body itself so I mirrored that.

The interior is very spacious and features storage for Starkiller’s lightsaber. Let me know what you think!

Rogue Shadow MOC render

This build is mostly based on the ship’s look from the first Force Unleashed game but with some distinct changes such as making the forward prongs symmetrical in size as well as giving it more on an Inquisitor colour scheme while still keeping the blue accents. I’ll be building the physical model tonight!

Kylo Ren’s lightsaber

I made this quite a while ago but kind of forgot about it. As with most, I was never quite satisfied with the official, one-piece design. I’ve seen plenty of customs but they all tended to use the standard bar thickness which looked disproportionate so I opted to use those long antennas and make the cross guard blades thinner inspired by the Kylo Ren buildable figure. I’m really happy with the result and can’t wait to use this technique for Cal Kestis in the future.
