Kristine Jennings Burgess, MS, PA-C, CLC, Assistant Professor in the Physician Assistant Department, was awarded the 2026 Lake Zurich High School Distinguished Alumni Award on September 25th.

This recognition celebrates LZHS alums who have demonstrated exceptional achievement, leadership, and service in their professional careers and communities.

Kristine was recognized for her dedicated career as a clinician, educator, and scholar, as well as her strong advocacy for women’s health, health equity, and student mentorship.

The Association of PAs in OBGYN (APAOG) was this past week in Detroit, Michigan. There were several presentations by RFU Physician Assistant Alums:

✔ "Don't Be Afraid of Insulin! The Foundations on Management of Diabetes in Pregnancy" by Rachel Galanos, MS, PA-C (PA 2021 - now at UChicago Maternal-Fetal Medicine),

✔ "Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility: A Day in the Life" by Jasmine Hammerstad, MS, PA-C (PA 2022 - now at Montefiore Institute of Reproductive Health), and

✔ "The Diagnosis and Management of Hyperlactation" by Kristine Jennings Burgess, MS, PA-C, CLC (PA 2010 & current Assistant Professor in the Physician Assistant Department).

Additionally, current second-year PA student Cayla Adams received the prestigious APAOG Student of the Year Award in recognition of her dedication to women's health and the Honestly Repro Fair.

I’ve spent the better part of my post grad life dedicating myself to the reproductive space.

I was trained as a full spectrum doula🤰🏽, worked at @ppgraction after the fall of Roe V. Wade🥺, and I spent time helping people create their families at @stlfertility 👶🏼. Each opportunity allowed me to work under some of the greats in their field. They taught me the power of advocacy, education, and compassion!💕

When I created @honestly_repro I wanted to share more about reproductive healthcare. Creating a fair with 70 tables of education and freebies filled my heart with joy. I never imagined this small event would gain so much recognition. Thank you to @apaogorg for selecting me as Student of the Year and an amazing conference! 🫶🏽 by @rfums_pas

RFU PA STUDENTS LEAD THE WAY! 🥳✨♥️

Being a Student Ambassador is one of the most rewarding ways to get involved on campus! Today, our first-year PA students had the opportunity to welcome prospective students and their families by leading campus tours and sharing what makes the RFU community so special.

Guests enjoyed pizza, popcorn, and Kona Ice while asking questions, meeting current students, and learning more about life at RFU. Our PA students guided each group to their breakout sessions and had the privilege of being the first friendly faces to welcome them as they began exploring their own RFU journey. It’s always exciting to help future healthcare professionals envision themselves here. by @rfums_pas
