Lac des Nations park and lake in Sherbrooke, Quebec. A promenade surrounds the lake to explore!

Lac des Nations is an artificial lake created during the construction of a hydroelectric dam.

Fed by the Magog River, it is at the heart of the Cité des Rivières Project, which aims to promote tourism and the revitalization of Sherbrooke's rivers.

Several bridges and paths cross over the river and the lake.

You can explore an audio tour and learn more about the history of the area on Sherbrooke.

The Magog River, or Sekosonotek in Abenaki, is a river that drains Lake Memphremagog. It is a small river running through the territories of the cities of Magog and Sherbrooke.

The hydroelectric dam was built to power local factories during an industrial boom.

In 1967, Sherbrooke was selected to host the prestigious World Water Ski Championships. To prepare for the international event, the city built the infrastructure on the shoreline, including the historic Armand-Nadeau pavilion. The international tournament was such a massive success that the city officially renamed the reservoir Lac des Nations (Lake of Nations) in honor of the competing countries. The sculpture is of a water skier.

Living sculptures and chairs can be found in the vast Parc Jacques-Cartier, which borders the lake .

There are many murals located in Sherbrooke, including a walk that you can take to explore them all. This particular one represents the source of our wealth; a “city of knowledge.” A metaphor
of Sherbrooke literary universe in which over one hundred regional authors are represented.

This particular monument and sculpture celebrates the women 's liberation movement, women's right to vote, and how women help shape the lives of those around them through their leadership and knowledge. 🤍

Autumn visit to Magog to explore the area, the lake area, and a local distillery. 🍁🥂

Magog, Quebec.

Magog Bay Park / Baie-de-Magog Park.

Lake cruise ⛴️

The sculpture is Libre, a monumental bronze artwork by Quebec artist André Desjardins. The artist designed the figure to represent a universal state of presence and inner freedom rather than a specific individual: "Free is no one in particular. Free is everyone: it's you, it's me."

There are scenic lakeside and marshland hiking trails along the lakeshore. 🚶‍♂️🥾

The "Magog Bay monster" is Memphré, a legendary sea serpent said to inhabit Lake Memphremagog, a glacial lake stretching between Magog, Quebec, Canada, and Newport, Vermont. There have been over 200 sightings.
