What they’re actually asking:They want to know if you understand the difference between a variable existing and a variable having a value — and whether you know how your specific language handles that distinction. The explanation:When you declare a variable, you’re telling the program “this thing exists, I’m reserving a spot for it!” When you assign a value, you’re saying “and here’s what’s in that spot.” The difference between null and undefined depends on the language, but the most common context this comes up is JavaScript:Undefined means the variable was declared but you never put anything in it. The language itself is telling you “I have no idea what this is supposed to be - you never told me.” It’s the default state. The slot exists but it’s genuinely empty.Null means someone deliberately put nothing there. It’s an intentional assignment of emptiness. A developer made a choice to say “this has no value right now” as opposed to just forgetting to assign one. by @rhymingjiaming

Your browser doesn’t care that both servers are on your laptop. To the browser, those are two completely different origins, & it’s been trained to be suspicious 🕵️Think of it like apartment buildings. You live in 3000 Main Street. Your friend lives in 8000 Main Street. Same street, different building. The doorman at 8000 doesn’t just let anyone in because you said you know someone inside. They need a list of approved visitors. That doorman is CORS.CORS stands for Cross-Origin Resource Sharing. It’s a browser rule that blocks your frontend from making requests to a different origin unless that origin explicitly says “yeah, they’re cool, let them in.”An origin is the combo of protocol + domain + port.So:localhost:3000 & localhost:8000 → different origins (different port)http://site.com & https://site.com → different origins (different protocol)site.com & api.site.com → different origins (different subdomain)Any one of those being different = the browser treats it as cross-origin.Why does the browser even care?Imagine you’re logged into your bank in one tab. You open a sketchy website in another tab. Without CORS, that sketchy site could quietly send requests to your bank using your logged-in session & drain your account. CORS exists to stop that. How to actually fix it:The fix happens on the backend, not the frontend. Your backend has to send a header called Access-Control-Allow-Origin telling the browser which origins are allowed to talk to it.In Express it’s one line: app.use(cors({ origin: ‘http://localhost:3000’ }))In Django it’s the django-cors-headers package. In Laravel it’s already built in. Every backend framework has its version. The mistake everyone makes:Setting Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * in production. That means “any website on the internet can call my API.” Fine for a public API. Very bad for anything with user data.Did you know that?#cors #webdev #backend #techexplained #codinglife by @rhymingjiaming
