Ornella Top

I sewed this Ornella top using the same muted pink naturally dyed handloom cotton gingham fabric and I absolutely love it!

I made it in size XS and added 2 inches to length. I initially thought it would tent a bit but it doesn't that much. I found the armholes to be slightly big for me and next time I would change the shape of the front armscye to correct this. Also even though I initially envisioned this as a set with my Henrietta Skirt, they don't really look good on me together and I would wear them as separates.

The instructions were super easy and this top was so quick to make! It's one of those tops you would wear constantly. I love it dearly!🩷

Henrietta Skirt

I made a Henrietta Skirt with this naturally dyed handloom cotton gingham fabric in size 3XS. I shortened it to just past the knees.

This was such a quick sew and so easy to come together! I loved making it. The instructions were super simple and the results were very on point.

However, I don't love gathered waist skirts on me particularly and this would probably end up going to my daughter. The only way I can make it work on my frame is to style it with a very fitted crop top and this makes its use limited. Here is a reminder to myself that not all trendy things might work as is on me!

Ashton Tops

For our trip to Kerala I made 2 Ashton Tops!
The first is a matchy naturally dyed indigo handloom cotton fabric one to be worn as a set with my Frey pants in the same fabric. And the second is a hacked front button placket Ashton in a cotton linen blend fabric for my daughter.

Both are in size 6 with a 1cm wide shoulder adjustment. I may increase this adjustment for the next version for more ease at the shoulder blades.

Elise Dress and Top

I tested the new Elise dress and top pattern by Mila Onni Patterns. Isn't she lovely!

This is in size 6 sleeveless peplum top view. I used a soft drapey mulberry silk fabric (a saree remnant) for this top. It worked out beautifully. There have been a few more changes to make this pattern even better in the final released version - making the neck gathers more flattering, adding more volume to the peplum etc.

This pattern was so quick and easy to sew! Mila has wonderful instructions and illustrations to guide one.

I wore it immediately on the day I finished sewing it! Wore it comfortably the whole day and had two strangers walk up to me to ask where I got it from! 😃 Probably the best complement any pattern required, right!

A very late first make of the year!

For a trip to the salt flats at Kutch in Gujarat, here is a set I made using the Kalle shirt and my favourite Frey pants. I made them using a fabulous handloom cotton fabric naturally dyed with Indigo.

This was my first time using any Closet Core patterns and the Kalle shirt was well designed and instructions were very clear. I made a size 4 in the tunic view. It has a band collar and a pop over placket. I adjusted the back length to be the same as the front and opted for an inverted box pleat at the back.

Frey pants are my tried and tested elastic waist pants. I made these in a size 2, wide leg view lengthened by 3 inches. I also made deeper pockets on this one by increasing pocket length by 2.25 inches.

This was a truly comfortable set in the hot day time and I loved the ease of wearing it!

Estelle Dress

I had the wonderful opportunity to test the beautiful Estelle dress by Mila Onni Patterns. This dress is so delicate and feminine, it feels amazing to wear!

I made the dress in size 6 in view D - sleeveless with no buttons. I used a hand block printed bagh print cotton fabric which turned out to be a gorgeous fit for this pattern. I have a couple of videos about this print saved in my Indian Block Prints highlights.

This dress is just so dreamy, it fits beautifully and swishes like a dream! Mila does such a thorough job with the instructions, it's astounding! So much attention to detail, so many variations explained, her pattern instructions are amongst the best I have ever come across! ❤️

💃🧘‍♂️ Dance Pants 🧘‍♂️💃

I tested the dance pants by @threadandsprout and these are absolutely amazing!

I made them in the size XXS using a Kalamkari block printed Indian cotton fabric.

I love the barrel shape of these pants. I also really like the cropped length. These are easy to sew and easy to wear. Very comfortable indeed! When the pockets are the hardest bit to sew(they actually weren't 🤭), the pattern is a winner in my opinion!

🌿 Garden Skirt 🌿

I had the absolute privilege of testing the beautiful #fsgardenskirt by @fruxstudio .

I made the skirt in Size 6 with lining. I used a silk cotton blend dobby fabric.

The pintuck detailing is just heavenly. This skirt has been a labour of love and is already well worn! I love it! 💚

Erin has put in so much effort in perfecting every detail of this pattern. The testing group was just a dream to be a part of, I learnt a lot from all the wonderful sewists! Erin, what a beautiful pattern! Thank you for trusting me to be a part of is journey! 💖

🌿🌼🌼 Lazy Daisy Dress 🌼🌼🌿

I feel so elated to be a part of the testing team for the Lazy Daisy Dress by Msromoscreations.
This is such a darling dress!

I made the dress in View A size E. I used a crisp khadi handloom cotton procured from a local khadi gramudyog shop. I thought the contrast white collar looks adorable with this gingham! I am delighted with my dress!

I absolutely love the simplicity and thoroughness of the instructions. Cynthia did an amazing job on this pattern! This is one of those dresses that would be in constant rotation as it is just so easy to wear and so comfortable.
