Guys, this place is even more beautiful in person.

For real.

Kayaking through a Rocky tunnel and coming out surrounded by huge limestone cliffs… I had to stop for a moment and take it all in.

We got so lucky with my October visit. Lovely weather, no crowds—literally just our group out kayaking and of course, I was trying to film everything lol

Couldn’t have asked for a better birthday adventure. Ha Long Bay, this one’s staying with me.

Plot twist: my third stop on a Slovenia day trip was actually in Italy.

Our Triglav tour briefly took us across the border to Lago del Predil, a beautiful alpine lake surrounded by the Julian Alps. The turquoise water and epic mountain backdrop looked almost unreal—and the sunny weather made it even better.

Here’s how I did my little Slovenia adventure from Budapest 👇

I took a night bus from Budapest at 11 PM and arrived at Ljubljana bus station around 5 AM the next morning.

At 7 AM, I joined a full-day tour to Triglav National Park. It was a long day, but honestly, SO worth it! The weather was perfectly sunny, and it felt like the perfect way to say goodbye to summer.

We finished the tour around 7:30 PM, and our guide dropped me off at Lake Bled, so I could spend the evening strolling around and enjoying the views before heading back to Ljubljana for the night.

The next morning, I was definitely feeling the adventure from the day before 😂 So I had a slow morning, checked out, and took a quick stroll around Ljubljana—Dragon Bridge, the Central Market, and Ljubljana Castle.

Then it was time to head back to Budapest on an afternoon bus. The views along the way were beautiful, so I basically spent the whole ride looking out the window.

It was a short trip, but somehow I managed to squeeze a lot into it!

what more do I need?

I really enjoyed my little evening walk here. The view was beautiful, especially as the city started to wind down.

Save this Budapest tip: You can also get up to Buda Castle for free using the escalators inside Várkert Bazár, instead of paying for the funicular or hiking up the hill. Fisherman’s Bastion is also within walking distance, so you can easily combine both spots in one little Budapest stroll.
