What better way to start Black History Month than to pause and acknowledge the blessings that are still coming down. 🖤

🗣️ I was published in The New York Times, not just quoted, but interviewed, with a half-page photo in the Business section on personal finance. 😩🙌🏽

The article focused on helping seniors, who are often the prime targets for scams, and how to avoid financial mistakes.

I am truly grateful, humbled, and genuinely thankful to do the work I do with an amazing team at @ygcwealth, and to the families that trust us to be in lock step with them every step of the way. 🤓

🍾 I’m elated to announce the launch of my new comprehensive financial planning firm @ygcwealth : an inclusive, culturally competent and technology-forward financial planning firm. YGC Wealth specializes in supporting wealth builders who fall under three primary categories: aspiring entrepreneurs, first-generational wealth builders, and thriving professionals.

For more than a year and a half, I’ve been working alongside @your.richbff and a small but mighty team to bring Ask Dolly to life, and I’m so proud that we can finally share it with you. 🤗

As a CFP® professional and the founder of @ygcwealth, so much of the work I do happens one-to-one. I have the privilege of sitting across from individuals and families, helping them understand their finances, make informed decisions, and build lives that align with what matters most to them. But I’ve always dreamed of taking the knowledge I’ve gained throughout my 15+ year career and using it to help people at scale, to build something incredible that could serve one person, and then one million more.

@askdolly is that vision coming to life. 🥳🥳🥳

Created by Vivian Tu of Your Rich BFF, Ask Dolly is a financial companion designed to make economic news and headlines relatable, help you understand your financial strengths and opportunities, answer your toughest money questions, and connect you with real human financial experts when you need deeper guidance.

Vivian has always been an incredible advocate for making personal finance more accessible. She kept hearing from her community of millions that financial guidance was often too generic, too full of jargon, too expensive, or simply tone-deaf to the realities of people’s lives.

I’m laughing as I write this caption because of the Kirk Franklin song choice, we sung every song of his in the youth choir! Honorable mention for “Stomp”. We grew up in the church. Shoutout to Christian Temple in Norfolk, VA! 🙌🏾

We were babies when Ms. Alveta came in and took over anything and everything youth-related in church and we were better for it. From the Christmas plays, Sunday School, Church lock-ins, and Youth Sundays to the choir, she has been, and always will be, a staple in the lives of every child who walked through Christian Temple. 🙏🏽

And yes, I was in the choir…although Dominique told me one day to work on harmonizing… I knew at that point I could trust her, she never had me out here looking crazy. 😂

Spending time with our godmother Alveta, my childhood friends Roi and Dominique, and Dominique’s beautiful family and boys was so special. We reminisced, laughed, and talked about everything. It was truly heartwarming to see how far we’ve come and the beautiful families we’ve built along the way.

Last night, Ileana came to me in a dream for the first time since she passed on January 1.

I have wanted… needed to see her in my dreams. Life has been hard lately, and last night, she came through. And then, she opened the skies. For real. A powerful storm moved through our area, and in my spirit, I knew it was her.

A few months ago I shared the letter Ile wrote to me with my dear friend @sugartaylorco. From Ile’s words, Sugar painted this breathtaking picture of what it means to be my friend, but last night, it was Ile who showed up for me. To hold my hand through deep and turbulent waters, to help guide me toward the light, and to remind me that I do not have to find my way alone. 🥹🤍

Sugar also wrote a poem, but I’ll let her share that beautiful piece in her own time.

There are some moments too sacred to explain away. Last night was one of them.

I got the call that my mom was going into kidney failure a few days before I gave birth to Remington, which is the same time the pandemic hit and the world was closing down. 2020 was one hell of a year… mom started dialysis that year, close her birthday, she was 57. In January of this year, as most of you know, we got the call that she got matched for a kidney and we needed to be there ASAP… and we went flying down the road to Richmond.

January… the family came together to heal our mom back to health, together. Not only has her health healed, so has her spirit. 🥹

Mom, the strength and courage you had over the past 6 years to go to dialysis 3 to 4 days a week, lean not only on your own strength, but kept your faith in God that He will deliver you from the sickness… I have literally witness a miracle before my eyes. Your spirit shines as brightly as your beautiful smile. You have lived a life that most will never know… and to pivot the way you have, is …. a gift. A gift of a new life.

It’s never too late to travel the world, and God willing, I’m excited to start this journey with you. I love you. Happy 63rd Birthday, and many more!!! Love, baby girl.
