my non-negotiables as a studio owner & Pilates instructor🤍⬇️

1️⃣ prioritizing my own practice
I try to attend classes at least 5 times a week & not because I feel like I need to, I fundamentally feel better after them. I never started Pilates because I wanted to be an instructor, I always loved the way it made me feel & how helpful it was to be instructed through movement, something I still crave!

2️⃣ completing one new course per year
Courses, workshops, privates, etc I believe are all investment tools to help deepen my practice & knowledge. I don’t believe you can never know enough and being a very curious person naturally, I look forward to this type of school

3️⃣ listening to our clients needs & being open to develop based on them
I’m always open to hearing suggestions and not attaching them to anything negative, but rather giving people exactly what they want. I want to hear all the creative ideas while I work on executing them!

4️⃣ supporting local businesses (& yes, even those in the same industry)
I love exploring and trying new things out & I would never rob myself of those experiences because I have my own studio to practice in. I also love connecting with other business owners in the industry to chat about relatable topics and being happy for one another through milestones. We’re adults and you should be able to applaud people for their hard work, whether you’re involved or not

5️⃣ being festive & adding holiday magic
Because life isn’t supposed to be dull! As instructors, we set the tone for classes with our energy and holiday decor can help to amplify just that

6️⃣ walking, silence, & sunlight
unreal combo & I highly recommend

7️⃣ celebrating & being supportive of my instructors in studio & beyond
I’m so thankful to have such an AMAZING team of angels that love & care for Halo as much as I do. They’re all so talented, strong, & confident and I will do anything to make sure they know how much I care about them. This care isn’t just when they’re in the studio, but in their future goals & personal growth as well. I’m always rooting for my friends & saying their name in rooms where opportunities may be

not to mention they’re both 88 years old🫪

no instructor = no RiRi

growing up in dance and gymnastics, i always had coaches telling me exactly what to do. between the structured conditioning, the pressure of being pushed, and doing it all alongside friends, working out never really felt like working out.

when that chapter ended, i realized i had no idea how to work out on my own.

now, as much as i love teaching and coaching others, i equally love being the student. there’s something so nice about showing up, shutting my brain off, and letting someone else tell me what to do.

turns out, i never hated working out. i just missed the structure, the community, and being pushed.

& thats my why <3 pilates girl 4L by @riannavalvasori
