The xiphis (Gigagnathus mediterraneus) was a chimera with mammal-like proportions, ranging throughout the Mediterranean. It is thought to have survived until at least the Bronze Age, where it was depicted in Greek mosaics as well as inspiring the Egyptian goddess Ammit. The lankstrider, an angler native to the Suffocation Peninsula (basically my fantasy version of Florida). This was a meaningfully fun piece for me because it's a redesign of an old concept I did for a now-retired art project; like reincarnating a lost child. #Spinosaurus #spinosaur #dinosaur #JurassicPark #JurassicWorld #creature #creaturedesign #fantasycreature #fantasy #highfantasy #grimdarkfantasy #grimdark #sciencefiction #nature #evolution #speculativeevolution by @rickcharlesartofficial

In Pelagica even the shallows are not safe, because you never know when a reef kraken is hiding just below the dock. Some of you may recognize this critter from an old, now-retired project of mine. I'm repurposing it for PELAGICA because its design translates well enough, although it doesn't have a description on the website yet.

Also, we surpassed 6,000 followers a couple of posts ago. Life has been crazy and I haven't had much time or energy to focus on my art, but I've been meaning to thank y'all for helping me achieve this humble goal.

You may have noticed I've undergone a slight rebrand. Since my art encompasses much more than *just* paleoart, I decided it's time to reflect that in my handle. Here's to many more years of dinosaurs, dragons, and whatever else my questionable psyche conjures! #squid #kraken #fantasycreature #creaturedesign #dinosaur #monster #cryptid #JurassicPark #JurassicWorld #nature #science #evolution #paleontology #speculativeevolution by @rickcharlesartofficial
