THE PRESENT IS A CONVERGENCE OF TIMELINES,2026

Based on a rock embedded at the base of a residencial building in São Paulo, Brazil, this work considers time spacially. The contact between the rock and a building we would consider “old” is the present moment, inwhich we see with our 3 dimensional mind their positions today. The building is maybe 70 years old and will eventually be destroyed, the rock is marble which takes 10 to 100 million years to form. I, as an observer, am 55 years old. All of these things will change over time and be assumed into other forms. As a meditation, there are so many timelines that make up a “present”. What happens next?

First show this evening of APÓS A FORMA at @farofasp
Incredibly grateful to collaborators @anikkdesign (light and production design) and @yinlauu (movement and performance direction) for making this dream of a show a reality. There are moments like this one with @christalemcrise that literally take my breath away and I am reminded how powerful performance is. I have made costumes and music and developed the story as a collective with @liminallinescollective a truly incredible experience.

USING PRIMITIVE TOOLS TO UNDERSTAND COMPLEX THINGS, 2026

Humility seems to be in short order these days. And when you think that the greatest minds in history only get a glimpse into how complicated the universe is, this title refers to all human achievement at this point. Art also fails in this task, but it is significant that civilization has been measured by it since the Venus of Willendorf(28,000 to 25,000 BCE). Even this amount of time, compared to the age of the earth is practically nothing. It inspires wonder and awe in me. Created on a dishtowel, there is an attempt here at recognizing, at best, we are working with simple things.

Enraizada na prática de performance baseada em butoh, APÓS A FORMA atravessa cinco mundos distintos do inconsciente: Interconectividade, Controle, Inocência, Monstruosidade e o Desconhecido. Através do movimento, imagem, som e presença coletiva, a obra escava histórias pessoais e compartilhadas, navegando pelo terreno da memória, do trauma, do desejo e das relações humanas/não-humanas.

O trabalho, com entrada gratuita, abre na Casa Farofa e segue, em julho, para o Teatro Arthur Azevedo. Os ingressos são gratuitos, com retirada no local.

🇬🇧 Next Saturday, June 27, Liminal Lines Collective presents its latest work, APÓS A FORMA, the result of their residency at Casa Farofa.

Rooted in butoh-based performance practice, APÓS A FORMA traverses five distinct worlds of the unconscious: Interconnectivity, Control, Innocence, Monstrosity, and the Unknown. Through movement, image, sound, and collective presence, the work excavates personal and shared histories, navigating the terrain of memory, trauma, desire, and human/non-human relationships.

The performance, with free admission, opens at Casa Farofa and moves to Teatro Arthur Azevedo in July. Tickets are free and can be picked up at the venue.

ORANGE PORTAL,2026

Early civilizations and religions were aware the world was perfect and imperfect. Structured inside of a chaos only a creator could understand. But it offers us openings into it’s math. Color is one of those pathways. Able to immediately transform our understandings and states. The rock here is a sentinel, standing at the gateway of one of these paths.

WINDOW,2026

Brazil is the biggest exporter of amethyst in the world exporting about 400 tons of it a month. But amethyst takes millions of years to form. Millions. It is incredible to think that each rock, each boulder contains a little universe like this, a symbol for the universe in the self, a tiny microcosm of the universe inwhich we live. Made from repurposed clothing and cast off fabric, this is a model of the alchemy of the planet, that it takes all materials and turns them into gems over time.

MANIFESTOR, 2026

There is a huge market for Brazilian Citrine Geodes because in the new age world, citrine is used for “manifestation”. What is interesting about this, is in fact most if not all of these geodes are actually amethyst that is heated at a high degree that essentially burns the soft purple color to yellow/orange. In the new age world there are differences in opinion about whether this makes it “authentic” or not. Some say that what creates citrine from quartz is this heat, and that humans are by proxy creating the real thing. Others are not so convinced. But what lies behind this is the fact that stones have power. That it is the earth that manifests and gives us the ability to manifest as an extension of its immense creative ability.
