I really enjoyed the fact that the @bencarlson_foundation “Ben Did Go” event wasn’t an actual race. All paddlers stayed in a rough pack and took breaks at designated times. Jack said he spent a big part of the day visiting with other paddlers and cruising along together. Passing fuel to him was a zero drama situation and we could check in on how he was doing throughout the day. The conditions were fairly epic as well. These are the kind of events that I enjoy the most. by @ridelikeadiesel

I’m out here supporting a total hamma of a paddler. He asked me to provide support for his effort @bencarlson_foundation “Ben Did Go” Charity paddle event. Today they paddled from Avalon Harbor to Newport Pier to raise money for water lifesaving tools that are given out all over the world. They raised over $320,000.00 this year. @jackkhanson it was great meeting you, Brotha. I’ll get you on that list we talked about. I’m looking forward to getting out for a little more mellow paddle with you soon. by @ridelikeadiesel

My family has never been one to leave much behind as far as inheritance and material things. They gave me birth in one of the greatest countries the world has ever known and all of the advantages that that comes with. They also gave me an identity, history, and culture that truly are a part of who I am. I can’t wait to explore it and see where that takes me. A person can’t ask for much more inheritance than that. Paddle friends, it’s time for some new adventures. From the beginning of my paddle career I have wanted to go see the local islands and do some crossings, the fun way. This is going to be like the “SoCal Paddle Challenge” except now we’re going a little further afield. With this boat, we can run to any of the islands and camp for a day or two. Everyone that wants to paddle will get trained to crew the boat, spend some time at the helm, use navigation equipment, monitor real time weather and conditions, and transfer paddlers on/off the boat, plus various other skills that are probably useful in these situations. That way, everyone gets to be a part of the good stuff and hopefully share some new skills. I kind of picture it as building an adventure team to go do cool stuff with my cool friends. My plan is to support as many paddle crafts as possible: SUP, prone, OC, surfski, and surfing. It’s a developing project, but the response from people that I trust has been super positive. I am pretty quiet on socials these days, but I’ll post stuff as this develops and we can create a working list of everyone interested in going out. by @ridelikeadiesel
