We never stop learning ⚡️I stepped way outside my comfort zone at the @performancepaddling 2026 Downwind Camp. Alongside 16 other paddlers, we launched into the open ocean with 30+ mph winds to learn the art of downwinding for the my very first time!! Experiences like this remind me that growth happens when we’re willing to be beginners, test our limits, trust the process, and face the things that scare us. That’s what makes life exciting. There is always something new to learn, another challenge to take on, and another adventure waiting just outside our comfort zone. A huge thank you to Anthony, Vincent, Morgan, Dave, Aaron, and everyone involved in making this experience possible. Drone footage by @jmeffe 🔥 The coaching, support, and community were incredible, and I had one of the most fun and memorable weekends I’ve ever had. I’m already looking forward to next year. A special thank you to @westcoastpaddle for believing in me and helping make opportunities like this possible. Thank you @sunova.sup for building such an incredible board. My Allwater Faast Pro 14’ x 24” gave me the confidence I needed for my first downwind experience and felt amazing in the conditions. Forever a student. Always chasing the next challenge. 🌊🤙

It was such a challenging and tough race as I've ever done. I joined the big outrigger and SUP race called Hanohano Ocean Challenge 2025 on Mission Bay in San Diego last Saturday.  The weather forecast said wind would be 16 mph, and wind gusts would be over 20 mph. So I switched my board from the faster "Jump" 14 ft to the wider and heavier board, NSP 12.6 ft even though it would be super slow. At the halfway point in the race, the condition was calm. I started to regret not bringing the faster board. However, when I turned around Vacation Island, the strong wind started blowing and suddenly that was the hardest part.  I tried to paddle as fast and strong as I could, but it was so difficult to push my board. I avoided paddling against the wind as much as I could so I bent down. But that made my back sore. 😆 At the last turn before the finish line it was much worse 😫 The wind blew from the left side so I had to paddle almost entirely on the right side.  Anyway, I completed the race without falling into the water 💦 and got third 🥉 place in my age category. My time was much slower than last year due to this weather and also other competing women. However, I am proud of myself to complete it with these brutal conditions.  Thanks to Hanohano Ocean Challenge 2025 for organizing this great race again this year. I'm looking forward to join it next year for sure!

What a nice warm day and great sea conditions in Oceanside yesterday! I joined a SUP race called Becky Stuart Memorial Race. This was the third time to join the short course about 5 miles outside of the jetty. Last year was windy and cold, but this time was perfect weather for the race.  65 paddlers joined the short course, mostly canoes. I finished first 🥇 in my age category and second in overall women. I am not satisfied with my time, because the average speed was slower than I expected. However, I enjoyed the race and met many paddling friends out there. Also, ate a tasty baked potato at the end of the race 😋 Thank you Oceanside Outrigger Canoe Club for organizing this enjoyable race! I'm looking forward to joining it again next year! #standuppaddlerace #standuopaddleboarding #paddlefriends #oceanside #beckystuartmemorial #greatcondition #oceamsideoutriggercanoeclub #oceanacademy
