🔥 WOW… WHAT A DAY! 🔥

What better way to bring the OC mountain bike community together than throwing a family mountain bike party in the middle of a 100+° heat wave?! 😂☀️🚵‍♂️

Thankfully, O’Neill Regional Park came through with plenty of shade and a nice breeze, keeping the riders cool enough to have a blast with their friends and families.

We kicked things off with introductions to Ride-Rx and OCMTBA, then jumped into an MTB 101 skills session instructed by Coach @donnya and Coach @t.louns for riders AND parents. 🤘

We worked on:

🚵 Ready/neutral position
🚵 Bike/body separation
🚵 Braking
🚵 Shifting
🚵 Balance & bike control

Then it was time for a few rounds of Circle of Doom! 😂

A huge thank-you to the awesome ladies from @ocvaulting for stopping by to talk about horses, horse safety, and sharing the trails. 🐴

We then opened up the skills course for everyone to practice their new skills — and watching the kids gain confidence and have fun was awesome! 🙌

And then… RAFFLE TIME! 🎉

We had some seriously cool prizes:

👕 Jerseys & riding pants from Cased
🪖 Helmets from 100%
🧴 Chain lube & bike cleaner from @formula100brand
👕 Event t-shirts from @ride-rx

Most of the kids walked away with multiple prizes! 🤘

And a HUGE shout-out to Manny, who fired up the BBQ and cooked some amazing burgers and dogs for everyone after a hard morning of riding. 🍔🌭🔥

❤️ This event would not have been possible without the amazing people who donated, volunteered, participated, and helped spread the word.

This is what growing the OC mountain bike community is all about:

Kids on bikes. Families together. New skills. New friends. More stoke. 🚵‍♂️❤️

Hydrate those kids, it’s gonna be a warm one! Don’t forget to pack that extra water, hydration drinks and ice in the ice chests. Get those umbrellas and sunscreen packed and ready. Don’t let any of that sway you from heading out. It’s still gonna be an amazing event for the kids. There will be plenty of canopies set up. We will have on-site registration. 🚵‍♀️ **THE 10-MILE GOOD DIRT RIDE IS A GREAT PLACE TO START.**

Our **10-mile route** is designed for active novice riders, younger riders, and anyone who wants to experience the Good Dirt Ride without committing to one of the longer distances.

This reel gives you a look at the actual route, including a flyover of the course and photos taken along the way.

Expect a little bit of everything:

🚵 Smooth trail sections
🪨 Rocks and technical spots
💦 Creek crossings
⛰️ Rolling climbs and descents
🌲 Tijeras Creek and Arroyo Trabuco trails

The route is approximately **10 miles**, with about **400 feet of climbing** and a typical ride time of around **2 hours**.

Riders will head out from Rancho Santa Margarita, connect into the Tijeras Creek and Arroyo Trabuco trail system, ride south to the turnaround point at roughly 4.5 miles, then make their way back to the finish.

It’s challenging enough to feel like an adventure, but approachable enough for riders who are still building confidence on the dirt.

And crossing the finish line doesn’t mean the day is over.

Here’s a reel from inaugural OC Trail Festival presented by @ocmtba a couple of weekends ago. To say it was a good time would be an understatement. We had camping, night rides, poker rides, guest speakers. We had skills courses, clinics and challenges set up for the kids and adults by @riderxmtb.
