🐾 FUN + WORK = THE BEST COMBINATION! 🎉

Playing makes work fun, and when training feels fun, our dogs are excited to learn! 🙌

Foundational skills are SO important. We start slow, build confidence, create clear expectations, and then work our way up! 🐶💪

It’s all about building those skills, creating communication, and showing our dogs that learning can be rewarding AND fun! ❤️

Because when the foundation is strong, the possibilities for freedom are endless! 🐕✨

🐾 NO LEASH PRESSURE, JUST COMMUNICATION! 🙌🔥

Sam is showing off those skills again! 💪🐶

This is the art of prong collar and e-collar training. Building clarity, communication, and consistency so our trainees understand what’s expected of them and confidently display those behaviors without needing the tools to guide every move! 👏

The goal is always to build reliable behaviors, strengthen the dog and handler relationship, and create the freedom to enjoy life together! ❤️

Tools help teach, communication builds understanding, and consistency creates freedom! 🐾💯

🎓 FINAL TEST FOR MARLEE! 🎓

We’re getting SO close to graduation! 🥳🐾

As we’ve seen throughout Marlee’s training, the busier the environment, the more anxious she can become. But this Costco run showed us some BIG improvement! 🙌
costco
Instead of feeling scared and overwhelmed, Marlee was experiencing more of that excited anxiety, which is a huge step in the right direction! 💪 Exposure, repetition, and building confidence in new environments are making all the difference.

Continuing to work through her e-collar and leash skills, Marlee is right on track to head home and continue enjoying this new level of freedom with her people! ❤️🐶

We are SO proud of this girl and everything she has accomplished! Freedom is getting closer! 🐾✨

🎓🐾 STUART IS OFFICIALLY A GRADUATE! 🐾🎓

And THIS is exactly why we do what we do! ❤️

Stuart spent three weeks working on confidence, anxiety, real-world exposure, and learning how to navigate the world with clarity and better behaviors. From busy trails and parks to shopping centers, elevators, escalators, bookstores, orchards, and everything in between, this guy has come SO far!

Now he’s home, enjoying his new skills and, most importantly, enjoying freedom with his family! 🥹🐾

A HUGE thank you to Stuart’s mom, Lana, for sending us this photo and the sweetest update!

Lana says:

“So far so good, just sitting on the front porch watching the leaves fall! This is a different dog!! Thank you!”

😭❤️ THIS is the goal. Being able to simply sit outside, enjoy the moment, and trust that your dog understands what’s expected of them.

Congratulations, Stuart! We are SO proud of you and cannot wait to see all the adventures ahead! 🎓🐾

🚤🐾 UPDATE FROM DIEGO! 🐾🚤

A while back, Diego completed his 3-week Board & Train with Kyle, with two big goals in mind: minimizing reactivity and building the skills to display good behaviors anywhere and everywhere.

Well, considering THIS is Diego on his very first boating trip, we’d say he is absolutely crushing those goals! 👏🏼🌊🐶

This is exactly why we train! It’s not just about good behavior at home or during training. It’s about giving dogs the skills, confidence, and communication they need to enjoy more of life with their people. More places, more adventures, more freedom! ❤️

We LOVE when our graduate families send us updates and photos! Getting to see our graduates enjoying their new freedom and hearing how well they’re doing truly makes our hearts happy. 🥹

When a dog walks through our doors, they become a special part of the Ridgeside family. Seeing them continue to thrive long after graduation is one of the BEST parts of what we do! 🐾

Keep enjoying those adventures, Diego! 🚤🌊 We are SO proud of you! ❤️

🎉 EXTENDED STAY COMPLETE! 🎉

Stuart and Marlee absolutely CRUSHED their indoor extended stay! 👏🐾

One hour each, followed by 40 minutes together! That is a BIG test and an important step toward a successful graduation. 🎓

This is the art of doing nothing! 🧘‍♂️🐶 Learning how to settle, listen, behave indoors, understand what is expected, and know exactly where they should stay until their owner or handler gives them the freedom to move.

It may look simple, but this kind of control, patience, and understanding takes A LOT of work! These two have put in the reps over the last three weeks, and we could not be more proud of them. ❤️

They are getting SO close to graduation, so let’s give Stuart and Marlee some cheers! 🎓👏

Awesome work, my friends! You’re almost there! 🐾🔥

🐾 Meet our newest trainer, Lenny, putting those foundational skills to work! 💪🐕

Place and heel are two of the very first skills we teach, and for good reason! These behaviors help establish clear expectations and create the foundation for everything that comes next.

From e-collar work and prong communication to commands, markers, and everything in between, having a solid foundation makes continued training so much clearer for both the dog and the handler.

The goal? Better behavior. Better communication. More understanding. And ultimately, the freedom every dog and owner deserves! 🐾✨

Great job, Lenny! Keep building that foundation! 👏

These two have been doing AMAZING in training, so they earned some off leash hangout time while Kyle worked on building stairs for his granddaughter’s treehouse! 🐾🛠️🌳 How fun is that?!

This is exactly why we LOVE training! When dogs understand what’s expected, consistently make stellar choices, and have trust and communication with their handler, freedom comes naturally. 🙌🏼

Training doesn’t have to be boring either! We love showing that learning can be FUN. Most dogs naturally love having a job and working with their people. Once they understand the expectations, it’s up from there! 🐶❤️

With continued practice, consistency, and teamwork with their owners, this can become your everyday life too. More clarity, better communication, better behavior, and ultimately MORE FREEDOM! 🐾✨

That’s what it’s all about at Ridgeside K9 Indy!

🐾 Bodie & John are CRUSHING their 1-on-1s! 👏🔥

Erin has been utilizing a variety of dogs, especially untrained dogs, to help Bodie work through real-world distractions and, more importantly, untrained distractions! This is such a valuable part of training because not every dog they encounter is going to be trained or predictable.

And look at Bodie NOW! 👀👏 The reactivity that was one of the main reasons he started lessons is no longer showing up. What a HUGE win!

One-on-ones are a fantastic way to train both the dog AND the owner. It gives everyone the opportunity to build better communication, clearer expectations, and consistency on both ends.

John and Bodie are putting in the work, and it is showing! Keep it up, guys! 🐶💪

🍂🎃 MARLEE & STUART AT BEASLEY’S ORCHARD! 🎃🍂 beasleys.orchard

Who else is READY for fall, fall festivities, and Halloween?! 🙋‍♀️🍁🎃

Our owner Kyle may prefer summer, sunshine, and warm weather ☀️😂 but personally, this social media girl LOVES fall weather! Give me all the crisp air, pumpkins, colors, and fun! 🍂 What about you guys?!

We think Marlee and Stuart are loving it too! 🤎 These two had SO much fun exploring Beasley’s Orchard and taking in all the new sights, smells, distractions, people, kiddos, and everything else that comes with a busy fall outing!

With graduation getting closer, our focus is taking these two ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE and really nailing down everything they have learned. 💪🐾

For Marlee, experiences like this are especially important for working through her anxiety. The more positive exposure she gets, the more comfortable and confident she can become in new environments. 🍁

And for our Stu Man, we’re working on toning down that over excitement and continuing to mark and reinforce those calm, appropriate behaviors. These real world experiences are perfect practice! 👏

From training to fall festivities, these two are showing us just how far they’ve come! 🐾🍂

This was SO much fun! Who’s ready for all things FALL?! 🎃🍎🍁

🐾 Marlee & Stuart take on the Danville Square! 🐾

At this point, it’s all about taking these two anywhere and everywhere! We’re really nailing down everything they’ve learned, putting those skills to the test, and preparing them for the freedom they’ll have with their owners. 🙌🐶

Marlee had a BIG experience today! The busy roads, traffic, and cars were much more than she’s seen before, and she definitely showed some anxiety. We’re actually glad we caught this now because it gives us the opportunity to keep working through it before she heads home. More exposure, more practice, more confidence! 💪 The goal is to help Marlee learn that these new environments don’t have to be scary and that she can work through them with confidence. ❤️

And then there’s Stuart, or should we say Stu… Stu-Man! 😂🐾 This guy is LOVING the adventures and, even better, he’s continuing to maintain the behaviors and expectations we’ve worked so hard on. We are SO proud of his progress!

More places. More experiences. More practice. MORE FREEDOM! 🐕💙

Who says training can’t be incorporated with some FUN?! 🐾🌊☀️

Marlee and Stuart made their way to Meko Farms for a little adventure, and they had an absolute blast! 🐶💦

Thank you for having us, Sam! Sam Meko. These two got to practice off leash behaviors, e-collar work, communication, listening skills, and so much more, all while enjoying some swim time! 🏊‍♀️🐾

Training doesn’t have to be boring! Real world experiences, fun adventures, and continued practice help build confidence, communication, and MORE freedom! 🙌🏼

How fun is this?! 😍🐶
