The Overcrest Oregon Odyssey

A snap back to the first outing to see the @overcrestproductions family in the wild lands of eastern Oregon. From Leslie Gulch, to Haines, Sumpter and Anthony Lakes to the meandering John Day river it was a truly unique adventure and driving experience.

California peeking the horizon, down to the last 3 weeks and another adventure awaits with more friends. See you on the road.

The pilgrimage of Porsche, has it been 5 years yet? Re-visiting some old frames from the plastic box labelled "2023".

Myself and the home boys trekked a couple thousand kliks to Laguna Seca for @rennsportreunion 7. Motorsport sensory overload and some good laughs and memories with the boys.

2 years left I guess, see you on the road.

Feels like yesterday and tomorrow all at the same time, dunno how to explain that....

Utah was amazing, all the rally's have been. The next one is waiting for us.

See you on the road!

Some breathing photos from last weeks run to the Burrta to help @rabfan get a 318 V8 somewhat more healthy for @overcrestproductions rally in California. It was about the health improvement level of having a diet coke with 3 big macs, but the smallblock doesn't make as much noise now 🤷‍♂️

Aside from that I caught a couple nice prairie sunrises and got to wheel The Verdict through the rockies and back. Best part was spending a week with my bestest boomer friend and his family. All in all, solid week of adventure and wrenching. See it all next Sunday!

See you on the road

This honestly happens more than you'd think around here. These guys are usually pretty skiddish, this big fatty seemed to be just chillin on the dirt pile down the street. Wanted to ask if she could bench press a tremec for me then realized she probably wouldn't fit under the car on jacks 🤷‍♂️

Good to have the brizzo's back together in the garage. I wanna beat the snot out of The Verdict through the rockies on my way to see @rabfan in two weeks so I gotta get to work.

Transmission has either a damaged for fully frigged 5-6 syncro because you can't tickle the gear shifter or clutch any wich way and stop it from grinding into 5th. I found a replacement tr3160 for $1500 bucks last year and it's waiting in the storage closet. I'll probably take the old one apart and repair for a spare because next season is gonna be heavy track time for this car.

I forgot how gnarly this car is because it goes from a comfy and composed modern muscle car to an insane RPM factory when you stand on it. Probably not a great idea to ding 8000rpm day one out of storage before maintanence but whatever 🤷‍♂️.

See you on the road

A random week full of German car fun. Spent a couple days on my back under the Mercedes getting the control arms and steering all refreshed. Tried to test fit the OZ's leftover from the GTI but, they won't work
☹️

Oh well, no biggie there because the 16 inch SL wheels still look sick, and I don't care how many people say it. The stock 15's were in no way better looking on the car. Got the 911 out for a few good drives around town to run errands. Did a couple hours of work on the BMW swapped Mustang and got to @missionraceway for some wet laps.

Cars are all driving really well, I have one more to fix before the sun starts setting at 5pm again, and you'll see it next week on the show.

Then it's road trip time, see you on the road!

Spent an hour playing with vintage lenses on my Lumix S5iix last night. Took the 911 for a nice rip down the highway to the old ferry crossing and back and got some snaps. Was just complete serenity, summer traffic dying down, a gentle mist of rain in the air and me trying to embrace the coming season.

Summer is my favorite time of year, I guess growing up it was the season of freedom from a desk and routine. Always sort of stuck to me that way, but I always look forward to the cozy nights and storms that Autumn brings.

Nothing in particular just enjoying making colours and contrast with old Minolta MD/SR Lenses. The LUT I baked in is what my eyes and brain can process into a Vision 500t look. I actually shot these in Xpan crop but Instagram won't let me crop them full spread, 🤷‍♂️.

Random photos, random drives at night....thats all for meow.

See you on the road!

Summer flies by at a rate that really makes life seem fleeting. All these memories of adventure, family time and trying to pursue an idea where I actually have to believe in myself and push to succeed in all of it, feels like it's all happening so fast.

Been staying off the phone more and trying to focus on my family, health and going back to analog mediums that I used to enjoy and use as an outlet so much. Feels like I can see things at lifes framerate again.

Im looking forward to some more adventures and builds, a lot more fun with my girls and maybe some retro fam roadtrips in the $800 Mercedes.

A few days left in summer, make the most of it everyone. See you on the road

Well I did something different for a change, I filmed a video where I didn't speak, didn't show my face or really do anything other than drive.

I wanted to do something a little more immersive so a POV drive felt like a good way to do it. Of course I put my own spin on it. Was fun to mess with the new Ace Pro 2, neat to have an action cam that you can shoot log and grade with. It's also got a reputation for decent photos.

This series seems to be gaining popularity fast and Im honestly blown away, never thought a cheapo w202 would mean so much to so many people. You'll see the new new this Sunday.

Back to editing, see you on the road!

Track day #2 is coming up for Felony. I had no clue what to expect the first time out and if you saw the video you know how surprised I was.

Tonne's of sharp turn in grip, the ability to add rotation predictably and stability under high speed braking made this the most fun car I've driven on track. No electronic nannies getting in the way yet it carries a decently modern drivetrain.

I did blow out an axle seal in the end but that's not major, I'll try to remedy that with a few mods to my Ford 8 inch housing. It could really use better e46 coilovers for the front, a swaybar wouldn't hurt and harness bar is realllly needed for safety. Otherwise, seat time is gonna give me more seconds off my time.

See you all at @missionraceway on Sep 2nd

Pretty stoked on this little metal melting powerhouse. The new @arccaptain_welding Mig 205dp is a really trick welder with lot's of built in settings and adjustments to take a lot of the guess work out of dialing in your settings.

I have had a chance to take this thing for a spin welding some parts on my 68 Mustang build and it well exceeded my expectations.

You can use code Ridic5 to get a %5 discount on these machines on the Arccaptain website. Highly reccomend them if you are looking to outfit your home shop or getting into welding. Honestly you can't beat the value and quality!
