Excited to share images from "Echoes from the Future" — my interspecies concert performance exploring tender, ecofeminist visions of possible futures, where haunting, sensual poems and songs echo back into the present. Here, I queer and animalize technology, inviting all critters (human, more-than-human, and nonhuman alike) to create ecologies of listening, attune to one another, and become kin.

A equipe cultural da Casa de Cultura Alemã, em parceria com o Prof. Matheus Guménin Barreto (USP), convida para uma oficina de tradução de poesia do alemão para o português, conduzida pela poeta alemã Rike Scheffler e pela poeta e tradutora brasileira Angélica Freitas.
A oficina é voltada a estudantes de tradução, tradutores e todas as pessoas interessadas em poesia e prática tradutória - com conhecimento de alemão (a partir do B1). Você vai conhecer de perto os processos de criação e tradução das duas poetas e trabalhar na tradução de uma seleção de poemas de Lava. Rituale (2023), de Rike Scheffler. Ao lado de Rike Scheffler e Angélica Freitas, você poderá experimentar diferentes possibilidades de levar os poemas do alemão ao português e discutir coletivamente as escolhas feitas ao longo do processo. As traduções produzidas na oficina têm publicação prevista em uma edição bilíngue!

Close-ups from Echoes from the Future — an interspecies concert performance exploring tender, ecofeminist visions of possible futures, where haunting, sensual poems and songs echo back into the present.  Both music and language are ancient, more-than-human technologies. I imagine future interspecies communication—facilitated by the invisible, disruptive yet connective power of sound (@b_llabelle 2018)—as a space for radical political transformations rooted in affection and care.

Can we reset our bodies as anchor points for sensorial reciprocity with other beings? When and where do we enter the common ground? How do we become porous?

Youngsook Choi (@young.sook.choi), Sophie Seita (@sophieseita) and Rike Scheffler (@rikescheffler) will stage the participatory performance ‘Scales of Breathing: Score for Interspecies Collaboration’, experimenting with breathing gestures that imagine and rehearse forms of communication and connection with more-than-human others. Inspired by the way earthworms collaborate with microbial species to turn soil into rich compost and to enact a strategic diapause (suspended engagement) when their environment is not nourishing enough, the audience is invited into a shared boundary-crossing space for practising collective body-ing, playful contamination, and communal refusal.

In July 2026, the full iteration will be performed at Live Art Development Agency, London (@thisisliveart) on 15 July and at Hošek Contemporary, Berlin (@hosekcontemporary) on 19 July.

‘Scales of Breathing’ was first commissioned and presented by the Seoul Museum of Art in November 2025, in collaboration with Jaelee Kim, and curated by Sungmin Lee Jeong (@ljsungmin). The project is supported by Goethe-Institut (@goetheinstitut_london) and Goldsmiths, University of London (@artresearchgold + @centre_for_art_and_ecology).

Glacial withness: Listening at the edge of planetary boundaries

New audio paper by Angela Snæfellsjökuls Rawlings, Santiago Rueda-García, Konstantine Vlasis, Daniela Amado, Adam Świtała, Rike Scheffler and Linnéa Ida-Maria Falck.

The #audio #paper is part of Seismograf Peer’s series SOUND AND THE MORE-THAN-HUMAN WORLDS

This audio paper offers an autoethnographic engagement with both glaciers and the ideas-of-glaciers through acts of listening by Snæfellsjökul fyrirforseta campaign members. The #campaign relies upon artistic intervention as #sociolegal innovation by nominating the glacier Snæfellsjökull for Iceland’s 2024 presidential race. A founding tenet of the collective’s working #method is listening as a primary strategy to become-with glacier (að jökla). Through campaign members’ application of multimodal research approaches, the audio paper will conceptualise, describe, and demonstrate how #listening forms an integral component of communicating with the more-than-human to speculate on possible future worldings.

The paper goes beyond the concept of the »soundscape« as a wide and general metaphor (Ingold, 2007) seeking more meaningful and intimate relationships via sound, understood as a physical phenomenon of vibration, both audible and inaudible (Östersjö, et al., 2024). It questions the Western notion of music as a human (and) sonic practice, promoting listening as a creative act of becoming-with. The narrative and #sonic structure of the audio paper is a building, layered unfolding – an ecomimicry of glacial becoming through flow, surge, thinning, thawing, recession, ablation, melt – where our prose outlines the palimpsestComparable to how palimpsests are archives for writing and revising, so too do glaciers compose and reconstitute the land.
