- Nederlands twaalftal -

Recently made this after all my exams were done for the year. Been some time since I last drew all twelve of my children together in one picture but here they all are. Some of them received a slight redesign and I hope they're all a bit more distinctive in terms of bodies and faces, especially now that they're all wearing orange. Except Frisia because he is not Dutch, his own person and nation and also because a football team only consists of eleven people.

Uploading some old art (from 2021!) which I was very proud of but never got around to posting. I originally wanted to make a long speedpaint to go along with it, telling the story of North Holland but it took too much time so I never finished it.

Anyways enjoy this one. My style has definitely changed again but I still like it.

Wow I have arisen from death.

Just a quick and silly post ahead of Eurovision in Malmö this year. This year's entry from the Netherlands, Joost Klein, is from Fryslân, so I thought "why not draw Frisia being his normal angry self in this silly costume"

TVTAS

I have been away for way too long, despite having a few drawings ready...despite this, this drawing was actually finished yesterday. It's the Frisian (I would prefer Wadden) Isles (from left to right: Terschelling, Texel (up), Vlieland (down), Schiermonnikoog, Ameland)

Nothing to say; Texel just has a cute little mullet now and looks like a sheep haha (there are more sheep on Texel than people) by @riketvs

Fijne Koningsdag!

It's king's day today in the Netherlands, when we celebrate our dear King Willy's birthday despite all his antics. This year the king visited Maastricht, which is why Limburg is so happy; after two years of waiting she can finally show off.

And poor Amsterdam can't have more than one lukewarm beer with him at a time...

- Frisia -

A drawing of medieval Frisia I made inspired by the frescos in Westerwijtwerd. The type of spear used was very typically Frisian back then.

- Vla -

I just kinda made this last week. Limburg being slightly disappointed by North Holland is her usual mood.

West-Friesland

A long time ago I made this drawing of North Holland cycling along the Westfriese Omringsdijk; a large dike surrounding West-Friesland.

- 11 november -

It's 11 November, which means it is Sint-Maarten in parts of the Netherlands! Sint-Maarten is celebrated in several parts of the Netherlands but the traditions vary between provinces. In North Holland, Utrecht, Groningen, Drenthe and Friesland children go door to door singing songs for candy; kinda like Halloween but without costumes but with beautiful lights. In the south of the Netherlands it is celebrated less often because 11/11 is also the start of Carnival. It is sometimes celebrated with huge bonfires though!

- Marsdiep -

This is a comic I made about the origin of the water between North Holland and the island of Texel.

The text is in Texels and West Frisian Dutch so it might be hard for even Dutch people to understand - I'll give a translation in proper English here (Warning, while I definitely did my research I don't speak either of these dialects)

Sorry for the awkward paneling, I made this as a normal comic page at first.
___________
1 - Texel: Did you know we could visit each other once without the need for a boat?

2 - North Holland: That's a long time ago though
T: Back then we could just walk to the other side. I did that very often.

3 - T: I walked from my own house to West(-Frieslands) house without any issue

4 - NH: You did always come at "appropriate" times

5 - T: I DON'T HEAR YOU! ...but anyways, the water rose and the Marsdiep came to be (the water between North Holland and Texel)

6 - t: It is said that the name - Marsdiep - comes from the traders (Marskramers in Dutch)

7 - T: They could cross over the area with Ebb, they became wet but their wares remained dry

8 - T: And that's the origin of the name Marsdiep. It was as deep as the traders themselves! Isn't that fun?!

9 - NH: That's probably not true at all; it probably just means "deep lake"

These are the reference sheets I made for the Taegeuk drawing. In the older version North and South Korea wore modern day clothes, but I wanted to show the very amazing types of Hanbok they have in both North and South Korea.

I spent a ton of hours watching videos, looking at Korean artists' work (especially somebody called Glimja on DeviantArt). There's actually some big differences between North and South Korean hanbok. Southern Hanbok often uses muted colours and doesn't use a lot of patterns, while North Korean (female) Hanbok uses very bright colours, floral patterns and is made of a shinier material.

Aggressive cycling as you do when you're late to a meeting.

Don't ask me why I made this
