Dear Friends,
As I sit down to write this farewell post, it’s hard to believe that I’ve called Philly home for a very long time (decades). Tomorrow, I embark on a new chapter in my life, filled with mixed emotions and a heart heavy with memories. While I’m excited about the adventures that lie ahead, saying goodbye to this city, and more importantly, to all of you is not easy. Philly has been more than just a place to live; it’s been a canvas where I’ve painted the story of my life. You, my dear friends, have been the true highlight of my time here. You’ve been my support system, my confidants, and my partners in all the ups and downs life has thrown our way. Whether it was celebrating or offering a shoulder to cry on during tough times, you’ve been there for me, and for that, I’m eternally grateful. I want to thank you, Philly for being my home for so long and for shaping me into the person I am today. I carry all of you with me in my heart, and I can’t wait to see where our paths intersect next. Thank you to all of my friends who took the time to say good-bye on Sunday. It was one hell of a send off! Thank you @exxtrablonde for throwing it down @rd_philly and @makeithipster for crushing the vibes! I love you all so much! Celebrated a big one in Mexico City with some of my favorite people! 🫶The weekend was made of mezcal, tacos, and the kind of laughs that make you forget what you were even laughing about. Today I turn 50. 🎂

I’ve had a lot of time to think about this birthday and what I wanted to say about it.

So here are a few things I’ve learned in 50 years.

Never settle for less than you deserve. Especially for a man. Actually, decenter men from your life altogether. You’ll thank me later.

The older you get, the fewer fucks you give. Trust me, it’s probably not going to matter. Nobody is thinking about you as much as you think they are. Focus on yourself. Remember that you are number one.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN. Wear sunscreen. Every. Single. Day. Don’t tan your face. Wear the hat. You only get one face. And if you can afford a facelift when you’re older? Get the facelift. 😂

Lift weights. The sooner, the better. Pilates and barre are great, but nothing compares to strength training. Being strong will change your body and become even more important as you get older.

Don’t follow every trend. Wear what makes you happy.

If you’re single, DATE. Be open-minded. Get off the apps and GO OUT. Talk to people in real life.

Get your face out of your phone. Be curious. Read. Learn. Go dancing. See live music.

Get a dog. ❤️

Travel as much as you can. Travel alone. Go to restaurants alone. Sit at a bar alone. Don’t be afraid to do things by yourself. Learn to truly enjoy your own company.

Get enough sleep. Seriously.

You don’t need a million friends. You need a handful of really good girlfriends. Build your own community. Your circle gets smaller as you get older, but somehow you need those women even more.

Eat really good food. Take risks. Don’t be afraid of change. Change is good for the soul.

Talk to your mom and dad as much as you can. Spend time with them. Ask them questions. Listen to their stories. They won’t be here forever. ❤️

And laugh. A LOT.

Just not too much.

Wrinkles. 😂

This will never get easier; we just learn to live with the grief. It’s been six years since you left us, yet not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. I know you and Papa are watching over me and Alex. I feel your love and guidance everywhere, and in so many moments, I find myself still looking to you for advice or comfort.
