This random ass photo I took in St. Malo last year was one of the Honorable Mentions at the IPPAWARDS (not the winner though). Not bad for an amateur. I submitted it under the title "The Real Infinity Pool" LOL. I don't know why this one was chosen; the others were all great; perhaps because of its rather absurd and funny content and composition. But they wrote "Rio Johan — France," even though my passport is still Indonesian. Time to change it, perhaps? by @riojohan

I am So Incredibly Happy to announce that my novel THE MAJESTIES will be coming out in Indonesia next month, as YANG MULIA. It has always been hope that it would be able to published in Indonesia, where most of it is set. And now it is, in this sense, “coming home” 🦋

Thank you to the writer @riojohan for being its excellent translator ♥️🙏 Thank you to Teguh Afandi @idnafahuget at @penerbitkpg for acquiring it ♥️🥭 Thank you Jayapriya Vasudevan @jacaranda_lit_agency for being my agent! 🌸🌼 And thank you @sukutangan for this truly perfect cover 🍓💚

After a launch at UWRF, Rio and I will be on tour in Surabaya and Jakarta. Stay tuned for dates 🪄 by @riojohan

Book cover design and illustration for Yang Mulia, written by @tiffanytsao, translated by @riojohan, published by @penerbitkpg. The brief from @idnafahuget was simple: butterflies, and we illustrated the story of two sisters, posion, dead insects, and the life cycle of a wealthy dynasty, collaging as motifs of a gilded butterfly. It was a challenge to make a cover that makes sense as a whole butterfly when the book is opened, and hopefully we did this book justice! Soon will be released during @ubudwritersfest this October! 🦋👐🏻
