This week is another new cat i have been checking out. The melodicism in this solo really stuck out to me. It is SO beautiful.

This is a new cat I have been checking out. Jimmy Forrest and King Curtis were recently put on my radar. This album in particular has been one of my favorites.

This week is one of my favorite Sonny Rollins solos. It has been on my must learn list for over a year. I feel like I have learned so much about articulation and time from this recording. Sonny is a BAD CAT

I have been exploring the Real Play app for about two weeks and it has been really fun workshoping ideas with such a killin rhythm section.

I recently did a gig with Joel Frahm and got inspired to learn some of his solos off his recent album, "The Duke Ellington Songbook". He is truly one of the greatest players on the scene.

Transcription Thursday!!

This is an effort from me to try to post more about the people I'm diving into and what inspires me as a musician. This is only the second Rollins solo I have transcribed so give me a little grace if I missed anything.

This weekend I was privileged to share the stage and trade fours with Melissa Aldana!!

Now i wanted to post the video of it but there was some mic issues on the livestream😔. But, her residency this week has brought me so much inspiration and I could not be more thankful for her mentorship.

Thank you @diegoriverajazz for bringing her out and @therealmikesailors for giving me the opportunity to trade with her over Stablemates!! taken in The University of Texas at Austin by @ripleyswingle
