Meet Christine, the heart behind Riverfront Florals 🌸⁠
In her early 40s, Christine is a mom to one perfect little human and married to her high school sweetheart. What started as curiosity has blossomed into a full-fledged dream, now in its fifth year of flower farming.⁠

Every year on their anniversary, her husband surprises her with a bouquet of ranunculus. One day, she wondered: could these stunning blooms be grown in Ontario? After plenty of research (and a leap of faith), she planted her first corms. That spring changed everything. What started with ranunculus quickly grew into a passion for cut flowers—and Riverfront Florals was born.⁠

Located on the edge of the Rideau River in Manotick, Ontario, Christine grows in Zone 5b, with pockets closer to 6a along the river. Her fields are filled with soft pinks and peaches, featuring West Coast Seeds favourites like the Apricotta Cosmos, Oklahoma Salmon and Benary Giants Zinnias, and Zinderella Lilac mixes. Through the seasons, she plants Procut White Lite sunflowers all summer long before transitioning to Procut Plum F1 in the fall. You’ll also find King Size Apricot asters and Silvery Rose strawflowers in her lineup—just to name a few.⁠

I posted some dahlias on stories today and so many of you reached out to tell me how much you love these ones and I couldn’t agree more! Look at those delicate stripes!

I purchased this tuber from @ambleandblume - this is where I get all my specialty dahlia tubers from.

Each year I consider cutting dahlias completely from my growing schedule because they are so much work, and then they show up like this and steal my heart again!

I’ve had some questions about flower availability; the field is completely done from that freak frost a few weeks ago but I do have a few beds close to the water that are thriving. I may have some flowers to share next week ahead of Thanksgiving so stay tuned!

Attending my third Dickinson Days Craft market yesterday was wonderful! Getting to set the flower truck up in front of @watsonsmillmanotick was such a dream! Like straight out of a @hallmarkchannel movie!

Thank you all for the continued support and loving my flowers and me! Flower farming isn’t all sunshine but the days I get to share the flowers and setup the flower truck, are truly so special!

Next week I will be @greelygoodmarket on Sunday from 10-4! The flower truck won’t be coming because we have the most magical little flower shop setup! Can’t wait to fill it and see you all!!

This bouquet had the last lisianthus of the season and they were my fav variety - Voyage 2 Light Apricot. I’ll be planting plenty of these again next year.

This is my last bucket of blooms for the season; although we haven’t been hit here with a hard frost, these are the last blooms that weren’t frost bitten.

I’m unfortunately not offering arrangements this year for thanksgiving but a big thank you to those of you who thought of me and asked if I would have anything to offer.

Stay tuned for holiday offerings - I will be opening Whoville-inspired grinch tree orders soon as I’ve already had some of you messaging about them 🎄

Happy October! The dahlias are loving the cool nights and warm-ish days ahead of our first frost and the end of flower season. Funny how we work so hard to grow these beauties and they decide to show up at the last minute 😆

Every year I say I’m not planting them again, I’m giving up dahlias as a crop and then every year I add more and do it all over again because I just can’t quit these beauties! Any other flower farmers feel me on this?!
