🏆 International honors for Riverlife’s Shore Thing!

🏅 Riverlife is honored that Shore Thing has been selected as a winner of the 2026 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Americas Awards for Excellence, recognizing new developments that demonstrate excellence in “architecture, design, planning, construction, amenities, economics, and management” and “exhibit environmental sustainability, stewardship, and resiliency” among other criteria.

🌊 During an in-person visit by the @urbanlandinstitute awards jury, Riverlife staff highlighted on-board public art from Pittsburgh artists @jy.originals and @la_vispera, the food and beverage partnership with Braddock’s @brewgentlemen, design elements that keep Shore Thing’s ten small barges pinned together, and the 20 bifacial solar panels on the roof of its on-board shipping container, part of a custom off-grid power system designed by Pittsburgh’s own @zerofossil.

🩵💚 This award is Pittsburgh’s award too – thank you to everyone who has made Shore Thing an outstanding new destination. UPDATE: Shore Thing will remain closed Friday (10/16) due to continued rain in the forecast.

The final days of the Shore Thing season are Saturday, October 17 (10 AM - 9 PM) and Sunday, October 18 (Noon - 9 PM). We have two UpComing UpKeep events to help care for the Three Rivers Heritage Trail this October! Celebrate fall and spooky season and spend a few hours out on the Trail with us:

• Saturday, October 17 from 10am-12pm at Southside Riverfront Park 🍂
• Thursday, October 29 from 1-3pm on River Ave 🎃

We also have other events happening this month (including an anniversary tree planting!) so head over to our website event calendar to register for an event today!

Tuesday evening: Riverlife, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, and the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center are convening a panel to discuss Allegheny River ecology, native and invasive species, and approaches to improving the health of the three rivers, framed around a new installation of a floating wetland at Shore Thing!

With another incredible season winding down, we couldn’t wave goodbye without one *Last Splash.*

We've got live music and fun activities throughout the afternoon, including:

🪘 Live percussion with @timbeleza (Noon - 2 pm)

🎺 Performance from Pittsburgh favorites brass-funk ensemble @thebeautyslap (2 - 3:30 pm)

🛍️ Sustainable tote bag creation with @catherinetrendz (Noon - 3 pm)

🧶 ‘River Revel at Last Splash’ with @studiocapezzuti and @shiftworkspgh, featuring puppet making and large-scale puppet try-ons throughout the day, and culminating in the Great River Creature Parade at 3:00 pm.
