From the looper that refused to loop 😂 to finally hearing pieces of my vision come to life… what a beautiful reminder to keep creating, experimenting, and trusting the process.

A HUGE thank you to @Shiftworks and @Riverlife for inviting Yayas’ Haus to be part of Shore Thing this season!

And to every beautiful soul who showed up to just BE at the River and trusted me to guide the experience — THANK YOU! 💓

I’m getting closer to the vision, y’all. 🥹

And I’m so thankful for those open to feeling the love.

You are Love(d)

I suppose a Ferris Wheel on a bridge was not on anyone's bucket list. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🎡 🌉 But Pittsburgh made it possible at its third annual Oktoberfest. This ten-day festival combines both Bavarian tradition and Steel City spirit. 🍺 🥨 🔩 🏙 After its debut in 2024, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership made several changes to Oktoberfest so that it would generate enormous crowds like its sister festival Picklesburgh. 🥒 Among those changes, the name of the event. 😳 Instead of Oktoberfest, it's now "Prostburgh". 🙄 Prost is a German expression that means, "Cheers!" 🇩🇪 It's where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came. 🍻 It's also one of my favorite sitcoms. 😂 But one thing that did not change at Oktober… I mean, Prostburgh, was the Ferris Wheel on the Roberto Clemente Bridge. 🎡 Yes, it was the same one from Oktoberfest in 2024. No, I still did not ride the Ferris Wheel. 😂 Anyway, I'm done calling it Prostburgh. Oktoberfest doesn't really generate a lot of excitement for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think I attribute that to attending the event just for the Ferris Wheel on the bridge. It was a new and unique thing in 2024, but not so much now. I also think that Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership is trying (maybe?) too hard to build Oktoberfest into another Picklesburgh. Oktoberfest is still fairly new, whereas Picklesburgh has been around since 2015 and people are more familiar with it. The crowds were not enormous during the ten days of Oktoberfest, but they were larger in 2026 compared to 2024. Will Oktoberfest be "once every two years", similar to how I attend Picklesburgh? That depends. I may attend Oktoberfest in 2027, but not for the Ferris Wheel on the bridge. 😳 It would be for the Karneval Games, the live music performances, and the food and drink (not all of which is beer). And a bus race on the Boulevard Of The Allies, where the first bus to fall into a sinkhole wins. 🚍 🕳 But the response from CEO Jeremy Waldrup of Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership? "A bus race at Oktoberfest is the dumbest idea I've ever heard. NO." 😂 🍻 💛 🖤 #pittsburgh #oktoberfest #prostburgh #oktpgh #ferriswheel

On the way back to my place the other day I figured I’d stop at good ole Cathy and snag a few photos. What a cool building it is. #pittsburgh #universityofpittsburgh #pgh #usa #autumn

I suppose a Ferris Wheel on a bridge was not on anyone's bucket list. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🎡 🌉 But Pittsburgh made it possible at its first annual Oktoberfest. This ten-day festival combines both Bavarian tradition and Steel City spirit. 🍺 🥨 🔩 🏙 2024 marked the first time that Pittsburgh hosted Oktoberfest (or at least its version of a large German beer festival and traveling carnival 🇩🇪). Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership is hoping that Oktoberfest will generate enormous crowds like its sister festival Picklesburgh. 🥒 Perhaps what will generate those enormous crowds is the large Ferris Wheel on the Roberto Clemente Bridge. Ironically enough, the Ferris Wheel was invented in Pittsburgh, by George Ferris. 😳 So it was fitting that Oktoberfest would recognize and celebrate one of the world's most popular amusement park rides forged in Pittsburgh steel. I attended Oktoberfest, just so I could see what a Ferris Wheel on a bridge looked like. 🤔 It was actually pretty cool seeing the Ferris Wheel up close, and it was also cool seeing the colorful and dazzling lights illuminate the Ferris Wheel. There was a long line of people waiting to ride the Ferris Wheel, but it didn't stretch all the way out to Fort Duquesne Boulevard. BTW I did not ride the Ferris Wheel. 😂 Anyway, a Ferris Wheel on a bridge is the first of its kind anywhere, something that has never been done in Pittsburgh's history. 🥰 But I know of other things that have never been done in Pittsburgh's history and that I would like to see at Oktoberfest either next year or in the future. A roller coaster on the Duquesne Incline? 🎢 A zip line from the Grandview Overlook to Market Square? 🚡 Go Kart racing along the Parkway North? 🏎 Good ideas for Oktoberfest, but I know what CEO Jeremy Waldrup of Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership would say: "No." 😂 🍻 💛 🖤 #pittsburgh #oktoberfest #prostburgh #oktpgh #ferriswheel
