The next Mord release is a really special one to me.

Very pleased to announce that, after a 15-year hiatus, Grovskopa is back with new music, dropping a 5-track EP on Mord!

I’ve known Mika for over two decades, going back to the Audio Assault days, and I’m very happy that we’re working together again after so many years.

15 years since I buried Grovskopa.
23 years since Grovskopa last played Malmöfestivalen (see photo).

Tonight I return. Heavier than ever – in at least one sense.

22:15 at Malmöscenen, together with the fantastic dancers of Spåra. And DJ Minimy closing the night.

Only a one-hour set, so I’ll have to work fast to cram in as much 2002 industrial offbeat as humanly possible.

The world has become meaner. Techno has become cleaner. Polished into content, flattened into lifestyle branding. Somewhere along the way people forgot that techno isn’t supposed to comfort you. It’s supposed to rearrange your nervous system.
So Grovskopa returns.
Before Rivet, there was Grovskopa. A pressure valve. Industrial techno built to leave dents. Between 2001 and 2011, Grovskopa became a defining voice in the Birmingham-inspired industrial techno movement. Fifteen years after disappearing, he returns—not as nostalgia, but as necessity—with a new EP on MORD arriving this October.

Stanislav Tolkachev (MORD, Semantica, Token)
There was only one choice for this night. Making his Swedish debut, Ukraine’s Stanislav Tolkachev remains one of techno’s most singular and uncompromising voices. His first record was released on Grovskopa’s Pohjola Records in 2006, making this reunion twenty years in the making.

Rebecka Sekelius
A fixture of Malmö’s underground, Rebecka Sekelius has spent years building sets that connect techno’s past, present and future. Deeply informed yet instinctive behind the decks, she moves effortlessly between precision, tension and raw energy.

Adèle Tornberg (Visuals)
Adèle Tornberg shapes the visual world of the night. She created both the artwork for the forthcoming Grovskopa EP and the visual identity for this event, extending the music’s stark, industrial language into immersive live visuals.

Digis for both ELKTRN008 and ELKTRN009 are now out (vinyl coming soon)!

ELKTRN009 comes courtesy of Mesak, and the Paina Pause b-side contains remixes from Italian style-fluid musical maverick Piezo and Malmö-based Rivet, also known as Grovskopa and hot off of being part of last year’s fantastic Sandwell District record End Beginnings.

Both remixes slow the tempos from Mesak’s orginal 160 bpm production to clock in at the 120 bpm mark, with Piezo’s broken beat workout of Glypho Beach Track verging into amapiano territory whilst Rivet’s electroid take on Nauha drips with reverberated emotion.

We’ve been quiet for a moment — about 1.5 weeks of needed stillness.
Not gone, just recalibrating after something that took everything (in the best way).

Truth is, we didn’t think it was possible to go beyond last year.
The 10-year mark felt like a peak. A full circle.

But somehow, this year stretched further.
More intensity, more connection, more of that fragile, electric thing we’re all here for.

This festival isn’t built on logic. It never has been.
It survives because people choose to show up for something that isn’t easy, obvious, or guaranteed.

To everyone who made it real — artists, crew, collaborators, volunteers, and all of you in the crowd — thank you. Deeply.

We’re still here because of you.
And yes, we’re already thinking about what comes next.

ELKTRN009 is a double-drop with ELKTRN008 with Mesak’s new 12” comes out simultaneously with the forthcoming LAS record.

Mesak’s current production wave has been clocking in at 160 BPM. If you’re lucky enough to have heard his sets from the last three years you know the music is next level machine mastery. We are are proud to document this phase in Mesak’s musical evolution with this release that also includes remixes from Piezo, hot off of previous remixes for Objekt and Om Unit and Rivet, who’s recent production you’ve heard for example on last year’s Sandwell District album.
