“Evolution… like the dinosaur.”

THE MACHINE evolved. MACHINE 2 is the next iteration of my live electronic performance rig, rebuilt around three ideas:

Smaller footprint.
More direct connection with the audience.
More groove + pattern-based performance.

Everything gets tighter, faster and more playable. 100% live. Every sound, every time.

Welcome to MACHINE 2.

No track ID. No blueprint. No second take. Just a moment that existed once.

It allows me to understand myself. The world. And even you… in that order.

Before THE MACHINE, there was a piano (and before that, the drums). “Alone Together” was the first piece of music I ever released as RIŽIK. Found a grand piano in an abandoned bank, called a friend with a drone, and wrote this.

I’ve taught myself every instrument I’ve ever learned. Never really followed the rules, never learned the “proper” techniques. And somewhere along the way, all those supposedly wrong ways of playing became my own way of making music. So many of my ideas begin right here. Just my hands, a few keys, and whatever I’m feeling in that moment.

Anyway, a little glimpse into where this whole thing started. 🖤

This one’s finally out to the public! 🖤 “Through the Dark” is the title track of my latest EP on @sources.live, and a recurring motif in many of my live sets. Originally exclusive to the vinyl release, I extended it into a 13-minute journey to really fill the room that night.

Had the pleasure of opening for the incredible @karyyn_music (@muterecords) in Los Angeles. Big thanks to @discotchari for inviting me!

The full performance is now live on YouTube.

Come get lost with me. 🖤 taken in Los Angeles, California by @rizikmusic

I often refer to myself as a “techno musician”. Not necessarily because I make techno™, but because I use technology AS my instrument. Synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, effects. These aren’t just tools for producing music. They’re instruments meant to be PLAYED. Somewhere along the way, making electronic music and performing it became two very different things.

And make no mistake — I’m a fan of DJs. They’re important. I’ve spent 20 years working alongside some of the best. This isn’t about one approach being better than another.

But I’m interested in bringing the act of creation back to the stage. The improvisation, the risk, the happy accidents. Making music WITH people, not just FOR them.

Because to me, the magic of live music is that anything can happen. by @rizikmusic
