Bandit's Book Bites!

Batpig is a crime-fighting pig--the super swine of anti-crime! But sometimes, he's just Gary Yorkshire, a regular pig who has to go to school with his friends Carl the tuna and Brook the bat. Sometimes he's defeating a giant Squid Clown trying to take over the school, sometimes he's taking advice from a magical rabbit, sometimes he's just trying to survive summer camp. It's not easy being both an epic hero and a regular pig, but Batpig Gary is doing his best!
This is a very funny graphic novel that fans of Dog Man and Captain Underpants will enjoy as much as bandit and I did.

Have you ever had so much going on in your head that you just want everything to stop for a minute? 😵‍💫

It’s funny, easy to relate to, and it shows what it can feel like when your thoughts and feelings start piling up. I really liked the way the story reminds you that it’s okay to slow down and take things one step at a time. 💛

🍿 Have You Ever Had A Day Go Disastrously Wrong?

@little.bookworm123 and I have partnered up to read and review this brilliant book together!

Set over just one disastrous school day, Andrew is desperate to get the perfect photo for his mum and Grandma (G), who has Alzheimer’s disease. But between bullies, exploding ketchup and a science experiment gone wrong, everything spirals out of control. The little cartoons and side notes add so much humour amongst the stress too.

‘Popcorn’ by Rob Harrell is a brilliantly honest and surprisingly funny read about anxiety, pressure and one unforgettable school photo day. We loved how the title reflects the kernels of worry inside Andrew, building and building until they finally pop. When they do, the splattered ink and frantic scribbles across the pages perfectly capture the chaos in his mind. We feel children suffering with anxiety would resonate with Andrew as they can see his emotions flooding on the page and shows how they are represented.

What stayed with us most was Andrew realising he is more than his anxiety and that he can get through the worst moments. And that school photo? It rounded off the story in a humorous way which Andrew Felt was definitely one to remember!
