Even in July’s intense heat and at 10,000 feet of elevation, our RECONNECTED athletes pressed on through the Leadville Silver Rush 50-Mile Trail Run and 50-Mile Mountain Bike Ride with grit, heart, and purpose. Their goal was simple but profound: to show that life in recovery is not only possible — it’s deeply rewarding.

What unfolded was nothing short of inspirational. Two runners, both in recovery, completed their very first 50-mile race — crossing the finish line with beaming smiles, cheered on by family who had traveled from near and far to witness their transformation.

But this weekend wasn’t just about miles — it was about meaning. At the Printer Boy Aid Station, our RECONNECTED crew showed up with everything our runners needed — food, water, hugs, and unshakable support. They were there before the runners arrived, when they came through, and when they returned. That kind of love — patient, present, and persistent — is hard to describe. But we felt it in every cheer, every tear, every shared moment on the course.

It’s tough to explain how powerful it is to finally feel a love that has always been there — a love we often couldn’t accept until we believed we were worthy of it. This weekend reminded us that we are loved, and that our friends, families, and this recovery community will show up for us… as long as we keep showing up for ourselves.

We walked away from Leadville not just knowing we’re supported — but believing it. And we hope others see this and know that same love is available to them too.

13 years. What an incredible milestone. 🙏

This morning, I had the privilege of being in the room as Rob celebrated 13 years of sobriety. Holding his 13-year chip for a moment was a powerful reminder of what commitment, perseverance, and community can mean.

To celebrate Rob, a box of Raksoy Baklava is heading his way. But to me, this is more than bringing dessert. Baklava is part of my culture, my childhood, and the Turkish tradition I grew up with ,and sharing it is one of the ways I know how to show appreciation. 🇹🇷

Rob, congratulations on 13 years. Thank you for what you bring to our community and for allowing me to be part of such a meaningful morning.

Today, a little piece of Turkey gets to celebrate with you. 🤎

Okay — deep breath. Strap in, because this is a long one. 
3 years ago, Rob reached out and asked me to film a run from Vail to Aspen. Now, here we are, telling a similar story on different legs of the same journey. 
This story has never really been mine to give away. It belongs to Rob, Creighton, their families, friends, and everyone in the @reconnected_foundation CREW who let us into their lives and trusted us with things that weren’t easy to say out loud. That trust is the whole film.

It also belongs to the people who built it with me. The shooters who stood in the cold through the middle of the night because the story didn’t stop when the sun went down.

@reconnected_foundation & @vailhealth being the driving force and biggest supporters behind this project from day one.  @robert_shearon we go back to preschool, man. I got to grow up with you and 30 years later, we’re here telling this story together. Hopefully saving lives. I’m so grateful and thankful to be on this ride with you.

@katierkess you showed up for me every single time. When I had a question, you’d find the answer. You’ve been there through all of it, and this project wouldn’t exist without you.

@leadvilleraceseries for putting on such an amazing event year after year. Your team was so accommodating.

Join Reconnected and Vail Health Foundation for the premiere of The Crew, a documentary about recovery, resilience, and the power of community! 💜🔗

Set against the backdrop of the legendary Leadville Trail 100 Run, The Crew follows people in recovery as they take on an extraordinary challenge—some running the race, others showing up to support them every step of the way.

While the Leadville 100 provides the setting, the story is about much more than running. The Crew explores addiction, mental health, recovery, friendship, and the people who help us keep moving forward when the road gets difficult. At the heart of the film is a simple message: no one finishes alone—and no one should have to recover alone.

This premiere is an opportunity to bring our community together, raise awareness about Reconnected and the continuum of care available in the Eagle River Valley, and highlight the resources available to individuals and families impacted by mental health and substance use challenges.

Most importantly, we hope The Crew leaves people with a message of hope: recovery is possible, connection matters, and there is a strong community of people right here in our valley living meaningful lives in recovery.

🎿 Recovery Ski Weekend is coming to Vail! 🎿
📍 Vail, CO | 📅 February 6–9

This February, we’re honored to host a Recovery Ski Weekend in Vail in partnership with ODAT Ski Club, a New York City–based recovery ski community that’s been bringing people together for over 36 years.

The weekend will be filled with epic ski days, shared meals, barbecues, healthy happy hours, recovery meetings, and time to simply connect—on and off the mountain. Most importantly, this weekend is about showing what’s possible: that recovery can be joyful, active, and deeply connected.

Whether you’re new to sobriety or well along your journey, this weekend offers community, hope, and living proof that we don’t have to do this alone.
