Zara Zeidman never stops moving. In the morning she could be writing a banger of a song in the kitchen with her best friend Moppy, then moves on to making theater props from scratch with her bare hands, then might rehearse a dance solo in her bedroom, after which she may do her own hair, make-up, and styling (maybe adding a wig?) for a musical performance before a live audience in Brooklyn, then gracefully metamorphosing into a director for a play that she co-wrote with the star… and oftentimes she is the star. Zara is moving through life with boundless curiosity, intelligence, and creativity, with a deep love for her passions that is so pure and contagious. That is why she is my latest Greetings From Anywhere. Enjoy!

The view from our living room window a quarter of a century ago still fills me with horror… the magnitude of the carnage, the thousands of lives cut short in an instant, and the ongoing ramifications that we all still live with to this day. It’s all so mind and soul boggling.

Henry Purcell is a true visionary. Back in 1961, at the age of 26, he moved from NYC to Portillo to begin managing his Uncle Bob’s remote state-built ski lodge in Portillo, Chile.
He eventually assumed the reins, and made the conscious choice to resist corporate expansion, avoiding the large scale condo developments and glitzy commercialization that you find at most ski resorts around the world. Along with his amazing wife Ellen Guidera, and his steadfast son, Miguel, he’s managed to keep the Portillo vibe intimate and authentic. And, extremely charming! I’ve now had the opportunity to visit his mountain paradise twice, and I’ve vowed to make it an annual pilgrimage, as the whole experience is insanely wonderful, and Henry and Ellen have done their best to make me feel a part of the Portillo family. Who wants to join me there next summer? 🇨🇱❤️⛷️❄️
