Okay. One last New York post then I’m done for good. On our 2nd day after skating and standup, we went and saw Mike D from the Beastie Boys in Brooklyn at a roller skating rink. It was amazing and a once in a lifetime opportunity! Here are some of the songs that he played with his kid’s band for their new project. New York trip day 5 part 2:
Stopped in at Snafu bar and had a great time! Left a dollar to mark our stay. After that we found a semi secret bar in Grand Central Station. (Really nice) after that we went to the top of the Empire State Building, then I got my slice of New York pizza to end the night. Ended up walking 10 miles overall. New York trip day 5 part 1:
Another really eventful day. We started out by going to 30 Rock and the NBC studios! Because it was Memorial Day and all the shows were on hiatus, we took the tour and got to see everything! We sat in the Saturday Night Live and Tonight Show studios, and even saw the Muppet pipes Jim Henson made in one of the walls. No photos were allowed. Sorry. After that we walked around Central Park a bit and learned if you make a clicking sound towards the squirrels they will come right up to you and expect food. I didn’t have anything. Sorry squirrels. New York Day 4: Sunday was pretty mellow by comparison. We went and saw Death Becomes Her on broadway, then got lost a bit on the subway before meeting @photobrando and @__meow__ for dinner. New York Day 3 Part 2:
After we went to MOMA, we had a very wet rainy walk to Matt’s favorite bar Local 42. I was soaked and cold so we started drinking to warm up. Brian and Lisa met up with us and we took the party to the oldest bar in New York, McSorley’s Old Ale House. It was a sit you with strangers kind of beer hall. Brian and I were pretty drunk by that point and I think the girl in last photo says it all. Sorry about that. Don’t remember much after that. I know there were French fries involved and at one point I found an abandoned umbrella in the street so I was pretty happy. New York day 3 part 1 of 2:
Thought I could do a one parter for day 3, but still way too much. Saturday my legs were sore, my foot as bruised, and it was raining. We met up some friends at the Museum of Modern Art to see some Dali, Frida, Van Gogh, and Picasso. New York Day 2 Part 2 of 2:
After skating with Brando we saw Elmo on a motorcycle and went to Broadway Comedy Club to do an open mic. Our old friends Lisa & Brian surprised me so I actually had an audience! Then we grabbed some dinner and headed to Brooklyn to see Mike D's new band at an old roller rink called Xanadu. Trying to catch up with our New York trip as we head back to California. Day 1: our flight from Burbank got cancelled the night before so had to catch an early flight out of LAX. (Thank you Cynthia!) Got to JFK and took the train to Penn Station. Place was going crazy because we came out right next to Madison Square Garden and the Knicks were in the playoffs. On top of all the craziness of me going out and performing music and stand up, Jen, our friends Jen and Jonas, and I were lucky enough to see Glen Hansard last weekend at the Lodge Room. He sang his biggest hit Falling Slowly with Olivia Vedder (yes, Eddie Vedder’s daughter). Unreal performance!
