some people fold in the “pain cave” others wake up in it.

i saw the emergence of hyrox and it intrigued me, the resistance & struggle you face is similar to running a marathon yet slightly different. this race was about truly about welcoming the pain with open arms and finding a sadistic way to enjoy it. the training block taught me about “intentionality” in the everyday sculpt of consistent work. every run, lift and sim had structure. smart-work was valued over hard-work and every obstacle was merely an opportunity to get better.

special s/o to my brother @_rjyap for enduring the pain with me and giving me his 100% all out effort, there’s no one i’d rather do this with. love you bro.

to my wifey to be, @_charmainemartinez_ thanks for being my biggest fan and support system. i can’t wait to do a mixed doubles race with you ;)

and to everyone else who reached out and showed support, i love y’all 4EVR.

the most important thing i love about running is the way it brings people closer together. the inclusiveness of this sport is heartwarming to see and even better to feel. came to this race with a goal of sub 1:50 and came out with a 1:45. all the hours spent training alone, with friends, in the rain and on the track have payed off. if you were out there on the side lines or supporting from afar i love and appreciate you. it all helped me power to the finish line.

special shout outs to my RNM brothers, @itsmvki on conquering his first ever FULL marathon, @charlesmartinez on hitting a sub 2 hour half marathon, @johnceladena for absolutely crushing a 1:50 half marathon and @f.tln for completing his FIRST ever half marathon. super proud of you guys.

and to the rest of the munch fam, y’all know who you are, i’m blessed to be surrounded by you amazing individuals that inspire me to grow and be better each day.

every kilometre has a price, i paid in full.

for the past 6 months i’ve dedicated myself to training for this marathon and can confidently say i am beyond proud of myself with this one. i’ve learnt many things about myself within this journey such as it is a blessing to GET to choose to endure pain, as for others pain and suffering chooses them. running has brought an immense amount of mental discipline i never knew i was able to tap into. i run because i don’t wanna run, and the fact i still choose to get up and move regardless of feel or motivation is something i wanna set as an example to my future kids one day.

running is nothing but a constant negotiation, when discomfort arises you really have two choices and that’s ignore it blindly or listen to what it’s internally telling you. it makes you think if this is a limit or small hurdle. but with every step taken beyond the discomfort, you ultimately say ” i know you’re there but you don’t get to dictate my limits. “

enjoy small wins, be present and love the journey. this one’s for my little brother up in heaven hopefully smiling down at me, thanks for being with me every step of the way. we did it. 💙🪽🧱 by @robinalquero

Officially one month ago we became husband and wife 🤍
